Watching "Life After People" on History Channel HD. I guess 200 years after humans are gone, most structures will start crumbling. Nature will reclaim itself. Interesting program. Anyone else watch this?

PS I hope to God this is a repost.

I saw the commercial for it and it said something along the lines of birds and monkeys will form alliances...did they go down the whole planet of the apes path?

I think I saw this a while back. Does it do a bit on Chernobyl after the nuclear accident and how the lack of human intervention shows it slowly turning back to nature? That was interesting.

I watched an episode today. Very interesting. I enjoyed the part where they showed the cats living high up in the skyscrapers which would become their own mini eco systems. The cats are basically like normal house cats except that in the skyscrapers they are at the top of the food chain because they are the largest predator on the high up floors eating the mice, insects and small birds. The said that the cats might eventually evolve and grow wings similar to that of flying squirrels and glide from skyscraper to skyscraper.

I liked that show. I have a feeling that humans won't last nearly as long as other species have on this planet. Considering how long the dinosaurs lived, humans have only lived on earth for a few minutes, relatively speaking. Humans have done their best to destroy the earth but it will have last laugh and then the earth will be history when sun becomes a red giant and devours it.

Flying cats, interesting. They better hope they can grow wings before the other predators learn how to push the elevator buttons.

I would pretty much siphon as much gas as possible, there'd be a pretty decent supply within a 25 mile radius.

Then I would first raid the grocery stores, etc for sustenance.

Finally I would find out where the Amazon.com warehouse are and make a road trip and pretty much find a sweet ass TV, surround sound, Bluray player, etc.

Then I would raid their DVD/Blu-Ray collection and live happily ever after.

In the book The Martian Chronicles one of the chapters is a guy who's the last man on Mars. (the planet was populated by Earth people but they died off). He goes around looking for another person and he eventually finds the last woman on Mars. When he finds her she's eating chocolate, it's all over her face, and she's like 300 pounds and wearing a wedding dress.
So he runs away.

You may need to learn how to operate a refinery, as it won't take long for existing petrol to evaporate from gas stations...

The Twinkie Factory is your best bet for food....

I doubt it would evaporate that quickly. It's not like a pool of gasoline just sitting around. The problem would be getting it out of the storage tank since there is no electricity.

Did anyone ever see that old Twilight Zone with Burgess Meredith where he's this Coke bottle glasses wearing guy that just wants to read books? There's a nuclear war and he ends up the lone survivor. He goes to the library and sees the thousands of books and he's elated because now he can just read without any human contact. But when he sits down he drops his glasses and they smash to pieces, leaving him nearly blind and unable to read.

Incorrect. The laws still stand until you have a special election to replace the legislature and president, and then vote to repeal the laws. And I bet half of CP members aren't even registered to vote, in which case they're really in trouble because they won't have a witness or notary public or whatever to certify their registration.
