There's always that guy on opposing teams we play that I just can't stand. Maybe a few. Magglio Ordonez is that guy.

Walk and an error = 2 runs scored

Nightfyre
05-25-2009, 12:21 PM
The Royals should write a book: "Errors, Stranded Runners and Poor Bullpen Management, A Guide to Squandering the Best Rotation in Baseball."

petegz28
05-25-2009, 12:21 PM
WOW...Meche is really struggling...just went from 0-2 to a 3-2 and an eventual walk for the 2nd walk of the inning.

It's bad when the Ump runs faster than your 1B.

alnorth
05-25-2009, 12:23 PM
If Meche doesnt get it together, that error isnt going to mean much. Without the error, we "should" be scoreless bases loaded 2 out.

Bowser
05-25-2009, 12:24 PM
We're really good at letting the other team score 2 in the first on us these days.

The Royals should write a book: "Errors, Stranded Runners and Poor Bullpen Management, A Guide to Squandering the Best Rotation in Baseball."

Exactly, not only can they not score runs worth a shit, but they do their best to allow the other team to score.

petegz28

Meche looks like dogshit today.

alnorth
05-25-2009, 12:26 PM
at this point, I think the inning should be over without any runs scored except for the error, so no runs should be earned no matter what happens. We'll have to wait to see if the official scorer wants to give him 1 run, though.

SCTrojan
05-25-2009, 12:26 PM
Let's hope Meche steadies. Otherwise, it's going to be a long freaking day.

Nothing like giving them 2 runs when you face Verlander

Nightfyre
05-25-2009, 12:28 PM
If Meche can go 6 today without giving up more runs, it will be a miracle and I will declare his outing a success.

petegz28
05-25-2009, 12:30 PM
And once again we start the game off offensively with a foul out

petegz28
05-25-2009, 12:31 PM
And we give Verlander a nice 7-pitch inning

alnorth
05-25-2009, 12:32 PM

Teahan... you absolutely f*cked us with that play in the first. That is a play that 29 out of 30 big league players make. And the fact that Meche is all over the earth with his pitches makes him just as culpable.

The scorer should prolly mark that as -1 Unearned Run for Meche.

It all depends on if you think Granderson would have taken second on Polanco's grounder to Teahen. If you think Teahen would have gotten the lead runner on that grounder (you cant assume a double play on an error) then the Tigers strand the bases loaded and no runs are earned. If you think Teahen would have thrown out the guy on first, Granderson comes home on the single before 3 outs and you have 1 earned run.

teedubya

I meant the Butler play. Since it saved a run. Should have been more clear.

WilliamTheIrish

5 outs on 12 pitches for Verlander

This is really kind of a stupid argument. Verlander has been throwing strikes. He's going to be around the plate.

It's pretty much agreed around the league that in the early innings vs him, you have to get after him early in the count.

Quit being such a total dumbfuck. I'm used to your usual asshattery, but today you're going beyond your realm.

I love the Royals but they're performance as of late is the reason why I never put too much hope in them. No matter who they throw out on the field they never fail to sleepwalk through large portions of the season. Losing like they did to cleveland was inexcuseable and getting shutout back to back to the tards is enough to make me reach for the nearest cup of antifreeze.

petegz28
05-25-2009, 12:54 PM

So he can catch a minor league start in the mean. He has head issues. They can't be eliminated in the minors, but he needs to keep pitching.
