I know, I'm an old fart with crappy taste in music, but I'm totally psyched to see this show with some friends and my son and his friends. Should be a great time. At least half the bands I really enjoy. Looks like there's gonna be quite a few bands on the side stages I'm not familiar with too.

The ones I'm really looking forward to...

I know these bands are all sellouts, but we can't all fight the man. ;)

Behemoth will be the best band of the concert by leaps and bounds. Seriously, they kill live. Slayer could be fun if the setlist is dominated by old material.

Slayer was one band I regret never having seen as a teenager from the 80's. I hope they stick to their old shit, mainly because I don't really know much of their knew.

Lot of people having been telling me about Behemoth live performances, so I'm rather intrigued even though I just added one of their albums (Apostasy) to my collection a few months ago. Love that Conquer All song (even though I can't stop hearing Anthrax's Be All, End All in that riff). Will have to check out that album.

I would love to see that show except for Manson.

Slayer's last two albums are great IMO.

God hates us all is in their top 2 or 3. Personally, it's right behind Reign in Blood for me.

I'm not sure how Slayer sold out? They aren't exactly writting songs for the charts lol

Of course, I'm an old fart and out of touch.

It was a tongue-n-cheek comment regarding the differences in musical preferences I have with Reaper16.

During Manson, I plan on checking out some of the "undercards"...

What's funny is that we're so close yet so far. Its entirely natural for me to equally enjoy Progressive Metal such as the Riverside album and Behemoth's brand of blackened Death Metal.

True, I just think you're more into the "technical" and the "artistic" edges, whereas I just like to enjoy the music without having to think too much about it. Opeth is about as progressive as I can take, because it's still a simple rhythm I can tap my foot to.

Been getting into Soilwork and Nightrage this weekend, but I have no idea if that's too "packaged" metal for you. You don't seem to like metalcore, which both these bands remind me of even though they seem to be labeled "melodeath".

That's a really good show. I wouldn't worry about Slayer. They know that people come to hear Reign in Blood, Dead Skin Mask, War Ensamble, Seasons of the Abyss, etc etc etc....

I don't own any of the new stuff but have heard it and ....it's Slayer!

I'm sorry excuse me....it's SLLLLLALAAYYYYEEERRR!!!

I do recommend seeing Manson though. I doubt it will be as good w/o their best lineup (Twiggy/John 5.) But even if it's bad...it will be entertaining because Manson is a madman. And the worse the show is...the more entertaining he'll be.

The guy is very full of himself but does have a sense of humor.

That's pretty close to the truth; I don't enjoy hardcore punk for the reason that it doesn't have anything to think about.

I've listened to most of Soilwork's discography, but I deleted every album except for Chainheart Machine.

Clear the way for Killswitch Enghey. But seriously, Satanica era Behemoth is my favorite and I rarely like anything that resembles Black. If you are into Nightrage, you must be a fan of At The Gates.

And not having anything to think about it means it's just a a lot of head bangin' fun for me! Kind of like the summer blockbusters.

As far Soilwork, I'm still debating. Largely varied style from song to song, album to album. Some I like, some make me go WTF?!

I'm really enjoying Nightrage's "Descent into Chaos" album though. Definitely going to pick up "Wearing a Marty's Crown" this summer.

I'm just getting back into music for the first time since the early 90's, so I missed a lot. I understand that At the Gates and In Flames are two bands that seem to be the influences for a lot of the music I'm listening to now, I just haven't picked anything up from them yet.

Never really liked Manson, although I hear he puts on a great show, modern day Alice Cooper. Besides, I need some off sets to check out the lesser knowns. That'll mostly be when the Christian bands and Manson come on stage.

Wow, I like Haunting the Chapel but that is FAR from their best work IMO.

You seem like one of those dudes who can only enjoy shit before bands become mainstream. THough, I don't know that Slayer is that mainstream. They are far from a Metallica or Megadeth. I could be wrong though. "God hate us all" is as good as any album they have ever put out IMO

I know you love Opeth but I have never been able to get in to them. I find them to be very talented mucisians but their albums just seem like how many fast riffs can we throw in to one song.

We all have our different tastes I guess.

Opeth is decidedly not that. Dude. They're not like that at all. I know plenty of metal heads that think Opeth are boring. I can like mainstream bands just fine, btw. I just liked Slayer's songs back in the 80's. Show No Mercy, Haunting the Chapel, Reign in Blood, Hell Awaits, South of Heaven... they haven't reached that quality level since, imo.

I went to the "Portrait" tour at the Granada in Lawrence; one of the best fucking shows I've ever seen, and this was way before the high dollar theatrics. I still like that record the best; more Alice Cooper, less techno.

Why do the Black Dahlia look like Al Davis' bastard children?

I will probably see Mayhemfest in Chicago. It's a pretty nice lineup overall. Killswitch Engage is a fun band live, with the guitariest and his antics on stage. Manson puts on a good show even if I don't love the music and Slayer is always good live. The rest of the bands except Cannibal Corpse I can take or leave. I loved the first All That Remains album but I heard a couple songs from the new album and sounds like they lost their balls. Don't get me started on Trivium.
