Is Jerry Jones broke? Perhaps, we should just call it belt tightening. When you examine some of the moves the Cowboys have made in the off-season, it makes you wonder, especially since the Cowboys' $1.25 billion stadium doesn't have a corporate sponsor. Seriously, think about it. Then there's the curious decision the Cowboys made on draft day to drop out of the second round and into the third round, where the contracts are typically shorter and less expensive. Add to that the big deal Jerry made about not wanting to trade into the first round because of the financial risk involved and you're within your rights to wonder whether he's making decisions based more on money than winning.

Nonsense. Jerry is far from broke. I think he played it cautious this year because he gave out a lot of stupid contracts over the last two years and knows that they are going to screw him like they did after he won the superbowls. They gave False Start Flozell a big contract (way bigger than he deserved at this point in his career). Tony Romo got a monster deal after only half year of starting. Demarcus Ware either just got a big deal or is on the verge of one.

That stadium though is a huge investment for him.

If he has to avoid drafting players because he's broke, he needs to fire him some accountants. Seriously, if the difference between a mid first and mid second is going to sink him, he's fucked.

Perhaps he was just being frugal. I mean even if you're a millionaire, a couple of million isn't chump change. Especially if you gotta hit it at once. Especially if there wasn't a player you weren't sold on. I don't blame him, hell I commend it.

It's probably just a change in philosophy. He's been going after big names and explosive "hip" picks for a long long time, and that has yeilded him similar playoff success as the Chiefs. It makes sense to switch shit up. Like we're doing.
