I have a Dell Inspiron 1520 at home that part of the keyboard stopped working on. All of the keys work except for the following:

ASDFGHJKL;'-=\` and the up and down arrow keys. I called Dell Tech Support and they informed me that I needed a new keyboard which I purchased for $43 and I have to install it myself.

Does this sound about right as a fix?

Has anyone ran into this problem before?

Yes, next time, call me though, however, yes. 43 Bux isn't bad.

It's interesting the tech support would tell you to do it. Is the warranty expired on this?

Keyboard replacements are fairly simple to do on laptops.

Yeah it expired and it would have cost me $49 just to go through tech support. He said it's cheaper right now to just replace the keyboard and see if that works.
