Armour Blvd and Warwick? Hyde Park area is interesting...its really bad some places and not so much others.

I would rather be in Westport at night than over there for the most part. I was really close to getting a place in the area. I actually like it alot.

I have a particular soft spot for Westport, always felt at home there. People that go to bed there and wake up there have much a different perspective of it than people that just roll down there for a night out. I've never felt unsafe there.

Best bars in town there. Kelly's is my favorite. I've been there a few times now.

I feel the same way. I am basically right in between Westport in the plaza. More the most part you find trouble. I really think people that are not complete idiots can easily avoid a bad experience in Westport.

I go to Westport. I've been there when someone actually got shot and killed. I've also been there when I actually saw the shooter shoot at people. I've also been there when someone got stabbed. I've also seen countless times when KCMO had to tackle some perpetrator that was running away. I shared a cab with a shady character one time that obviously was not a bar patron and was just a transient and he expected me to pay his cab fare, or else. Last time I was there I saw two groups of 6-7 women each fighting each other in front of police and the police maced them. The bitches were kicking each others cars. It was quite comical.

I too lived and worked in Westport, years ago (1995-1997), people are a little cooler when you live there. Walked to work and fun by choice almost all the time, never an incident and never felt uneasy. And did a fair amount of it drunk, the fun part not the work part, kinda miss it.

I'm sure we crossed paths at some point. If you live there its really got a small town feel, same people at the bars. Didn't know everyone, but you recogized just about all the locals.

It sounds like every time you go there, there's a crime committed. Coincidence? I think not.

My first and only Westport experience was a quick trip up (from SEK) for dinner and then to Blaney's where we had some beers and watched a damn good open mic blues group play upstairs (free), and then downstairs to listen to my buddy's band play downstairs. IMO is was good; good food, cold beer, good music. People were friendly... they did tell us not to turn and walk any further down this one particular street... Stayed the night at the 'Q' I think. Kinda old and expensive but not too bad. All in all a good time. Maybe we just got lucky and there was no violence that night.
