From Oscar®-winning director Martin Scorsese, “Shutter Island” is the story of two U.S. marshals, Teddy Daniels (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Chuck Aule (Mark Ruffalo), who are summoned to a remote and barren island off the coast of Massachusetts to investigate the mysterious disappearance of a murderess from the island’s fortress-like hospital for the criminally insane.

Looks really creepy good...

I bet it's awesome. Adpated from Dennis Lehane book and he's a very good storyteller in my opinion.

Trailer looks very promising. I really enjoyed the book and the previous two Lehane books adapted as movies turned out great (Gone Baby Gone, Mystic River).

Looks good on an old concept - sane person gets trapped in mental asylum where the powers that be then claim he is insane.

Yeah, I think I've seen that one a few times. The only question is how he escapes.

Still, it does look interesting. Equilibrium was perhaps the most unoriginal movie ever made, yet it was awesome.

I do expect something pretty original. I haven't read this book but Lehane is good at creating endings that make you question what's right and wrong

That would be great.

So true.

I'll also add that while this seems like something that's been done and therefore something i'd have a problem with or would write off, I'll take Scorsese's take any day, especially in the horror/thriller genre.

Agreed. Loved his pulpy remake of Cape Fear.

Ugh. I hated that movie. Of course, I hate almost anything with Juliette Lewis in it. :grr:

Keg, not trying to steal your thunder bro but an unnecessary app on your computer is not a good thing and this looks pretty good.

Yep. I really despised it. Saw it in the theater, too.

Just watched a preview last night, seems quite a bit different than the usual Scorsese movie.

From what i could tell its sort of a mix between 'Angel Heart', 'Jacobs Ladder' & 'The Island of Dr. Moreau', definitely looks good. Scorsese must be in love with DiCaprio though, seems like the only actor he wants to use anymore.

Now that Martin has done this, its NOW TIME for him to reunite with DeNiro & Pesci for one last gangster flick before they get too old or die... i'll be SO disappointed if they dont do 1 more.
