Wandy vs Rich Franklin is going to be a hell of a fight. Both of those dudes are VERY exciting fighters who will stand up and pound the shit out of each other. Dan Hardy vs Marcus Davis, Chieck Kongo vs Cain Velasquez and Caol Uno vs Spencer Fisher all have potential to be really good fights. I just talked myself into getting it.

So what's the appeal to this card...to watch Franklin get his ass kicked in the clinch again?

Rich Franklin completely sucks in the clinch...lets see Silva, big knees in the clinch..sounds familiar.

Circular logic doesn't work in this case. Wandy fights a bit differently (see: recklessly). Franklin has a shot. Although, he just might end up getting another free Picasso-esque Rhinoplasty courtesy of another former Chute Boxe member.

It's really not a good matchup for Franklin, Silva is also stronger than he is...

The only reason I'd think about watching this card is because I like Cheick Kongo.

I want to see all of the fights on the main card. Uno vs Fisher should be good if you like Japanese Elf's. CroCop vs anyone is always entertainment. Hardy vs Davis has had some hilarious build-up on the interwebs. Velasquez vs Kongo should be a good measuring stick for both fighters at this point, and Franklin vs Silva will almost guarantee violence. I'm stoked.

I got 2500 casino cash says that Rich wins that fight. He's actually been training with Anderson Silva, I'd bet his entire game is better than before. Not to mention the fact that I love Wandy, I really do, but you can't compare his style to Anderson's, it just doesn't equate.

At this point I'm saying it's a bad matchup.....also for all that is nice for UFC at their next event Frank Mir better not win.

If you're comparing Wandy to Silva you're hilarious, Wandy has a completely different approach then Silva. Silva is a world class Muay Thai so of course he is going to utilize the clinch. Wandy does use some Muay Thai, but he is really a street brawler who loves to throw punches and stand toe to toe. Silva has made many people look silly, so saying since Franklin got destroyed by Silva he will get crushed by Wandy is silly, two completely different fighters.

I wish the UFC would get a bantamweight and maybe even flyweight, those dudes are super scrappy.

It's sad. Ever since the BJ/Caol fight, I never saw Uno again. I don't even know where he's been fighting the last 3 years. I still don't get why they got rid of that division.

Results for the folks like me who won't be able to watch...Marcus Davis vs. Dan Hardy

Hard round to judge. Davis took him down and did some ground and pound, but when Hardy got up, he scored with a flurry and hurt Davis, and cut him high on the forehead. I'd give the round to Hardy for the late flurry even though Davis controlled much of the round, because Davis never had Hardy in trouble.

Good second round. Key blow was a left knee to the chin by Hardy. Hardy dominated most of the round with ground and pound before a controversial stand-up. They traded some good punches with Hardy getting two hard punches but Davis hit a strong shot late in the round, then got a takedown late and did some ground and pound. I've got it 20-18 Hardy but it easily could be 19-19. Second round for sure is Hardy.

Davis knocked Hardy down and did some ground and pound early. He kept grinding on top and then started working for an ankle lock as well as a heel hook. When Hardy escaped, he got to his feet and then took Davis down. Hardy damaged Davis a lot from the top, cutting him on the bridge of his nose and near the left eye. Davis also had a major hematoma on the left side of his face. Davis was bleeding badly enough that they could have stopped it. After a stand-up, you could see the blood was going into Davis' eyes. I've got it 30-27 for Hardy

Scores are 29-28 Hardy 29-28 Davis I don't know how 29-28 Hardy

At this level of competition, you need any advantage and said it was a psychological trait. He said fans should get behind Davis. Hardy said that he didn't want a decision win but Davis was so strong.

Spencer Fisher vs. Caol Uno

Slow first round that the crowd booed at the end. A few punches, with Fisher getting the best punch. Key move was Uno going for a takedown, Fisher sprawling and getting Uno's back late in the round. 10-9 Fisher.

Another close round. Crowd booed it but if you like grappling, it was pretty good with a lot of takedowns and reversals. No near submissions. Uno threw a few good leg kicks and instigated takedowns, one of which he got early and others of which were blocked but Uno was able to reverse. I'd go 10-9 Uno making it tied going into three.

Fisher had the edge in the early part of the round and I had him taking the fight until the last minute when Uno got the takedown and did enough ground and pound, the most significant damage of the fight in the last minute. I have Uno 29-28. Crowd booed all three rounds. I thought the last two rounds were fine if you're into the wrestling, but first time audiences aren't going to get into it.

All three judges have it for Fisher. Bruce Buffer didn't read the scores. Really first two rounds were even and Uno won the third based on the final minute of damage.

Mike Swick vs. Ben Saunders

Dull first round. Saunders looks huge at this weight class, looks to be 6-3 and 195 in the cage although probably isn't weighing that much. Saunders pulled guard and Swick used some body punches. The biggest spot was Swick telling Saunders "Are you going to hold me all night" an Saunders told him to "Stand up, bitch," when Saunders was just holding him from the bottom. Swick got the best of an exchange after a stand-up. 10-9 Swick.

Swick connected with a flurry of nine punches standing with a right to the temple putting him down. Saunders went down, took a few more shots on the ground and ref Leon Roberts stopped it. It was a slow fight until the end.

Swick noted he was 9-1 in UFC competition and challenged Georges St. Pierre, Matt Hughes and Thiago Alves.

Mirko Cro Cop vs. Mostapha Al-Turk

Cro Cop decked Al-Turk and then let him up. Cro Cop was swinging and poked Al-Turk in the eye with his finger. Al-Turk backed away and turned his back. Ref Dan Miragliotta missed it, although on camea you would have missed it as well. Cro Cop put Al-Turk away. Cro Cop looked huge at 233 and his shoulders were a lot stronger, and Al-Turk was thrown off when he tried to take him down. Kind of an unfortunate finish.

Cain Velasquez vs. Cheick Kongo

Kongo rocked Velasquez right away with two hard punches that would have finished some people, knocking him to a knee but Velasquez walked through and took him down. Velasquez used ground and pound, got his back several times and also slammed him several times to dominate the round. 10-9 Velasquez

Kongo dropped him again but Velasquez took him down and stayed on top with ground and pound the entire round. He bloodied up Kongo's nose. Kongo's corner told him that Velasquez is getting tired and Velasquez is walking around like he can't wait for the round to start. Lots of knees to the side as well. 20-18 Velasquez

Kongo hurt him with punches again until being taken down. Velasquez threw a million punches from the top but they were not killer punches, just a huge number and Kongo had trouble getting up. When he got up, Kongo started lighting him up and Velasquez took him right down and continued to ground and pound him. Velasquez was cut in the mouth. This was a lot like Lesnar vs. Herring except for the stand-ups where Kongo hurt him every time, and because Velasquez was far more aggressive with punches on the ground, but he didn't have Lesnar or Carwin power in his ground and pound. 30-27 Velasquez

Didn't read scores, just said unanimous decision for Velasquez

Rich Franklin vs. Wanderlei Silva headlines the show

Good first round. Both guys had one period on top and Franklin seemed to do more damage with his time. Franklin said he thinks Silva has a broken nose. Silva looked tired at the end of the round and Franklin isn't breathing hard at all. Slower standing than usual for Silva fight, which benefitted Franklin who takes it 10-9.

That round was what was advertised between the two. Franklin picked Silva apart until the latter part of the round, but Silva tagged him with a right and had Franklin in trouble, taking several punches but Franklin managed to get out of trouble and even knocked Silva to a knee with a kick. 20-18 Franklin although without that last few seconds Silva could have gotten it.

This is going to be a tough one to call. I had Silva winning the round. Silva was exhausted but kept moving forward and he caught better punches. Franklin didn't take advantage of Silva being tired. Franklin got a takedown in the last 30 seconds and Silva got up and started throwing backward elbows at the bell. I have 29-28 Franklin

They just announced Franklin winning again without scores. Crowd booed it because the crowd loved Silva. Silva was playing to the crowd a lot in the third round particularly. Even though he lost, it was a great fight for Silva because he stood up for three rounds.

Wanderlei did a broken English version of a Jens Pulver promo and was the big crowd favorite.

I watched the whole show and all i can think of is how bad the referees were. Miragliotta in particular was entirely too passive. he wouldn't even mutter verbal warnings while the fighters were committing fouls. poor Al-Turk had both eyes gouged and the ref was literally running away. Velasquez had a hold of Kongo's trunks for 2 entire rounds. (the drawstring was around his waist, the backside of his pants were down to his thighs) Franklin was shouting to the ref that Silva was holding his gloves.
the ref just let it slide.

if Miragliotta keeps his job, it's only a matter of time before someone suffers brain damage or dies in the octagon.

the event was decent, the fights were okay but, the whole thing was marred by shoddy refereeing.

Velasquez is extremely lucky he can handle a punch because everytime they were standing he was getting destroyed...
