Anyone else here using a NAS as a media server? I just threw up a WD Sharespace 4TB last week and finished uploading all my media to it. Streaming uncompressed VOBs ripped from DVDs to my PS3 is awesome.
Since I'm streaming full quality VOBs (3-8GB files), streaming video over the internet would be pointless, but I'm thinking about setting up to stream my music collection. It's onby 48GB, but it would be nice to share with friends. I'm going to have to pick up a new firewall to build in some authentication though, I really don't want to pat $80k per song.
Any other tips for getting the most out of this investment?
