The girlfriend, her 17 year old daughter, and I will be going to Seattle friday to visit her family for 10 days. So far we plan on

Saturday
1. Seattle underground tour
2. Seattle Aquarium
3. Pikes Place
4. Maybe Science center if we have time.

Sunday we have a family reunion north of Monroe.
Monday we are going White Water Rafting east of Monroe/Gold Bar.

Hiking Wallace Falls and up to Serene Lake.

The 4th we will be going to my girlfriends grandmothers cabin on the Puget sound with family and shoot fireworks.

Any other touristy places you can think of while we are in the are????

We will mostly be staying in the Seattle/Monroe/Gold Bar area.

Oh! Any good comedy clubs? Found a couple online, but didn't look very good for the days we will be there.

Watch out for that Flopnuts dude.

Keep one hand on your wallet while you're there.

Something entertaining you could do is to throw dog turds at Husky Stadium.

On a more serious note - I didn't see the Space Needle on your list.

Definitely make time for EMP and the Pacific Science Center. It's all right downtown, and if you have time you can catch a carnival ride or two. Gold Bar is about 50 miles from Seattle, my folks live out there so be prepared for a long drive. There's tons to do though, when I get home tonight I'll give you a list.

Go find the troll under the Fremont bridge.

We went there about 3 years ago. I was not impressed compared to the Stratosphere in Vegas.

I had thought about that. I'd like to if we have time.

I forgot to mention we were out that 2-3 years ago, but didn't have time to do the tourist thing really. We did go up in the Space Needle but that's pretty much it.

Last time we stayed at the hotel in Gold bar. This time we stay with family. We will be there about 10 days.

Either way in Gold Bar everything is about 6 blocks apart. :D

I was just in Seattle as a stop on a roadtrip.

Pike's Place is great and we did the Duck Tour which was fun (but too long, IMO). Our absolute favorite activity in Seattle was having lunch at the rotating restaurant atop the Seattle Center Space Needle. Food was expensive, but well worth it. Delicious!! Tickets to get to the top are $16 and with lunch that price gets waived so it's not that bad of a deal.

Must do these.

The Space Needle is ok; the food is nothing to write home about. They are all three together. (EMP=Experience Music Project) Parking is a bitch because they are doing construction around there and there is a bunch of one way streets.

Get the roasted nuts while you are at Pikes Place market. Watch out for the Monkfish at the shop where they throw fish. The sandwiches at 3 Sister's Restuarant are wonderful (located in a alley of sorts).

Make sure you take the ferry when you head to the other side of the Sound (don't drive around). The Bainbridge Island Ferry is more scenic than the Kingston ferry.

Take some time to relax at the beach at Point No Point when you are on the other side of the Sound.

Alladin's in Silverdale has some wonderful Mediterranian Food. Arroy De in Poulsbo has really good Asian food. There is a yummy crepe place in Kingston if that is your thing. If you like a lot of food, hit the buffet at the Suquamish Casino--food isn't super great, but edible--and it is a casino buffet so you just can't go wrong there.

I disagree. It was one of the best crab cakes I've had in a long while.

Wow, no wonder they call you Fat Elvis.

;)

Some of the best food I've ever had was in a tiny gyros place on the waterfront in Seattle. That was around 20 years ago, though, so I doubt it's still there.

Where do you get Pike's Peak?

It is Pike Place Market.

It is, for all intents and purposes, an open air market.

Blech. It may be the best crab cakes you've had in a while, but it is one of the worst in the Sound area....

I often get fresh crab in Florida. The food at the Seattle Center was delicious.

I'm glad you had a better experience there than I did. I've been a couple of times; the food was decent the first time, but pretty average the second (when I had the crab cakes, lol).

There is a little restaurant at the marina in Bainbridge that has seafood that is absolutely fantastic. I can't remember the name of it though.

The ballard locks can be fun, http://www.seattle.gov/tour/locks.htm after that head to Rays Boathouse ( about a half mile north) for some delicious seafood. (eat at the cafe upstairs, more casual and less $ for the same food as downstairs, plus a nice outdoor deck) http://www.rays.com/new/?p=2

You can also may see the "Deadliest catch" fleet in the ship canal near the locks. (fishermans terminal)

Ride the duck, thats usually pretty fun as well http://www.ridetheducksofseattle.com/

Have fun!

hopefully the weather will cooperate.

I'd hit Greenlake if the weather is nice. It's a great mix of Seattleites doing different things. If you go out for drinks, I'd suggest Ballard for an evening. They have a great array of Irish pubs. Hit the Ole Peculiar.

Wallace Falls in Gold Bar is an awesome park, and a pretty good little 5 mile hike up the mountain. If your people live in Gold Bar I'm sure you've been there a time or four before. Everett is a cesspool, don't let anyone talk you into hanging out there unless it's to go to the waterfront, and that's not a good enough excuse. However, if you do get stuck there grab some lunch at The Flying Pig.

While you're in Gold Bar I'd suggest a morning drive over Stevens Pass and an afternoon in Leavensworth. If that's not your thing there is a casino a little east of Wenatchee. The trip over the deuce than down 97 and back across 90 into Seattle is a gorgeous one.

Again I'd stress taking a day to explore The Experience Music Project, Seattle Center, and The Pacific Science Center. They're all lumped together next to The Space Needle and makes for a great day. Grab a slice of some Pagliacci's pizza while you're there. Or a bag of Dick's. They make great burgers.

I could come up with tons more including Gasworks Park, (which is a must if you're here for the 4th) The Soundgarden, (Yeah, that's where they got their name) the Fremont Troll, or Golden Gardens. You won't be at a loss for things to do though. There's plenty. Enjoy your stay!

Great ideas guys. Thank you!

I think the little lady is wanting to go to the Red Mill Burgers place. I want to hit The Crab Pot (saw it on Dinner, dives and drive-ins).

After being up in the space needle and not being impressed I have been hesitant going to the other two places by it. But since everyone (the little lady included) in suggesting it I'm having seconds thoughts. I think we'll try to hit that as well.

We will end up in the Steven's Pass area. we are going white water rafting in that area. Also Serene Lake is there. We went to Serene Lake last time but the clouds were low so we couldn't see the lake very well. A LOT tougher hike than I though it would be. 4 hours up and 2 hours down. Sometimes 45 degrees up! I was thinking it'd be a little hike like I take with my dog in the woods here in North Central MO. Not even close! Good think I'm in relatively good shape.

One of the little ladies sisters lives right next to Gold Bar. Actually she lives right across the street from Zeke's restaurant just West of Gold bar.

I was thinking about taking my girlfriend, her 2 sisters, her brother and their significant others to a bar or comedy club one night. I like the Irish pub idea. I think Seattle might be a little too far for them to drive though since they'd have to drive home that same night as well (kids).

When we go to the Puget we will only be going to Camano island. So we won't be riding a ferry. But I wouldn't mind going up to the Spit again and eating at The 3 Crabs Restaurant. Need a ferry to get there. The restaurant was a little overpriced, but decent seafood. The location made it all worth it though.

If you guys like Italian food, I've got a great little restaurant I go to that's actually in a rural part of Monroe. It's called Nana Carmella's. Seriously. Let me know if you're interested and I'll get you directions. They're very obscure, and a lot of folks don't know they are there. It's a GREAT place to eat though.
