Anyone else excited to see this? Its about a bomb squad unit in Iraq. Its been getting great reviews. Up to 96% on RT.

It opens in limited release this weekend. I think its getting rolled out nationally over the next month.

I'd seen some short trailers that didn't really fill me in too much. You're thread here got me interested, and I found a full trailer...it does look pretty damn good.

Yeah, I'd heard great things about this but have yet to see a trailer. So I looked it up and its got some big names. Notably Guy Pierce, Ralph Phines (no idea if thats spelled right) and Evangeline Lilly (who I have fallen in love with because of Lost, despite really wanting to punch Kate in the face for being so stupid/annoying most of the time)

Did you miss the trailer embedded in this thread? I also provided a link on yahoo.

Saw this on Friday and it is phenomenal. It is the best movie I have seen this year so far. If I rave about the things I loved about it, I'd spoil it so maybe we can resurrect this thread after it has released more places.

Downloaded the dvd screener and watched it like a month ago and it was excellent. One of the better movies I've seen this year for sure.

One of the producers lives directly across the street from me. He thinks they'll be Oscar nominated.

I noticed Friday when I went to see Funny People that it's finally made it to Olathe, so I'll be seeing it some morning this week. Been looking forward to it for a long, long time.

I saw it on Friday and it's such a good movie.

The lead actor is in talks to play Mad Max in a reboot of that franchise.

I love the Mad Max trilogy. I think it was almost ahead of it's time.

Of course it was ahead of it's time. It's about the future. Duh. :p

I think they will be too. Depends on the rest of the years releases of course, but right now I'm pulling for them. I'd like to see Jeremy Renner and Kathryn Bigelow both nominated, as well as the film. I make everyone I know go see it.

Not sure what to think of a Mad Max reboot, but I'm open minded. I'd hope for minimal VFX (and I'm in VFX!) and for sure no PG rating for sales. It can't be slick, but there was more to explore in that world without going to the ridiculous like Thunderdome.

Don't Oscar movies come out a lot later in the year?

Don't Oscar movies come out a lot later in the year?

Many times, studios release films that may have Oscar potential close to the deadline and the Oscar Award show, so that they're fresh in the voter's minds. There's also a considerable amount of advertising and pandering in the Hollywood Reporter and Variety.

This particular movie has made less than $7 million dollars but it's getting a tremendous and somewhat surprising reaction. I haven't seen it but from all accounts, it's well directed and very powerful. My neighbor also told me that Marco Beltrami's score is very haunting and understated.

For his sake, I hope he's right. He's a nice guy and lived here before I moved in the neighborhood.
