View Full Version : Chiefs 2-5 at the bye?

This is a brutal way to start the season. I think we can take our division games but not so sure about the others. Good news is we can get some of the kinks out before the bye. I'm hoping for .500 ball after the break to end the season strong.

NFC East teams: The Chiefs open the season at Baltimore and play host to the Raiders before playing four straight games against the NFC East. They cap it off with a home game against the Chargers before finally getting their bye week. That is a brutal stretch for a franchise that will be undergoing a fair amount of philosophical change with a new regime in place. Getting off to a fast start would go a long way to instilling confidence in these changes, but that will not be easy. A 1-6 record heading into their bye looks like a distinct possibility.

1-6 is my guess, with the win either vs Oakland or at Washington

yep, I agree 1-5 or 2-6 is what it looks like as of today.

I think we squeeze out one more win besides Oakland. Yes 2-5 at the bye week.

They better get that first win at Oakland because the next time they play them it will be on the road a week after a road game on the east coast.

i dont think so, i think we will beat Baltimore (now that they have no passing game), oakland, maybe dallas, but def washington.

Wait what?

If you can explain to me how the Chiefs will score on Baltimore or defend them from running the ball I'd like to know.

All of these teams save the Raiders are much further along in their processes than the Chiefs are.

We'd be lucky to go 2-5. 1-6 is more like it....but we'll have to see how our offense does against Oakland. I'm not sleeping on their defense. There is a possibility that we go 0-7 into the bye.

Dude they have a two headed monster running attack by the name of McLain and Mcgahee plus I wouldn't be so quick to discount their passing attack just because Mason retired. They have a kid by the name of Mark Clayton who can be a helluva deep threat and I haven't even said a word about their defense.

I think 4-3 is more likely than 0-7 or even 1-6. How else would the Chiefs disappoint us. I bet the Chiefs will play some inspired football before the break then slump off afterward.

I'm actually very interested to see this suckfest.

In prior years, Asomugha manned up on TG (to which TG schooled him), and we were able to move the ball through him and Bowe (I can't remember who was guarding Bowe, but they're not as good as Asomugha). Now that Gonzo is gone, Asomugha cover Bowe and match up much much MUCH better against the Chiefs.

Optimally, LJ will put up 160 on them and Flowers will pick-6 JaFatass 4 times, but we may not be able to move the ball like we have in the past through the air.

I think you ha.vesome crack in your koolaid, Barry.

now that joke time is over, I would not be COMPLETELY shocked if we were 3-4 but 4-3 is a bit of a stretch.

I see us beating Dallas, Oakland and San Diego.

Baltimore beats us by multiple scores
Giants dominate us from opening kickoff
Washington beats us in a competitive game.
We cant hang with Philly.

of course, this is as things sit right now...our roster can change quite a bit from now to opening day, hopefully for the best.

If we are 4-3 at the break, I will pos rep each post of yours for the whole bye week. (limit of 100 posts) I will gladly pay up!

Realistically speaking, more so than wins, I am hoping we get through the first half of the season without any major injuries to key positions and that Cassel finds ways to keep the chains moving for us.

Oh! That would be awesome! Just think what we could do with another high draft pick. Remember teams that are building aren't supposed to win until they have every piece in place. No point in winning until we get another.. oh .. two or three top five draft picks.

3-4 is possible. I think we've got a puncher's chance against Dallas or San Diego if things are starting to come together. We played SD down to the wire both times last year.

I drank a whole bottle of wine last night. My 4-3 theory starts with a road win in Baltimore, and a Home opener victory over the Faid. If they can go 2-0 to start the season, 4-3 makes sense to me.

Heh, now you're spiking your Kool-aide...

Never!! Just feel really good about this new quarterback, and this defense.

The schedule doesn't scare me like it does many folks. I still think a win in Baltimore to start the season off is VERY possible. Especially if they have a good camp. I really think this team is better than most think it is, and most think I'm loony, but again, I am what I am.

Schedules often look a lot tougher on paper than they usually turn out. There's probably a couple of teams on there that will be lemons this year. Still, we have a long way to go before being able to beat those teams...

Yes but you are forgetting. A new coaching staff should equal 2 more wins and the upgrade at QB is at least 1 more. And they should have beaten San Diego last year. That makes 4-3 very reasonable. Then the schedule gets easier. That bring them to 9-7 or 10-6, right? ;)

Where were the Dolphins or Falcons' wins coming from at the beginning of last year? It seems like in the NFL there are always 1 or 2 teams that come out of nowhere to surprise. I don't think we'll swing like those, but new coach, new QB, weak division, I can see the parts coming together a bit to form a mediocre playoff-miss season of 7-9 or 6-10.

The Dolphins beat only TWO teams last year with a winning record and got whooped in the playoffs.

The Falcons had ONE awful year. They had an amazing off-season (Michael Turner, Matt Ryan, etc.) AND they had quite a bit of existing talent on the defensive side of the ball.

The MAIN thing you guys with all this "hope" and these ridiculous projections about the Chiefs having a decent (or great, in some cases) season are missing is this:

The Chiefs don't have an game-changing, impact pass rusher.

The Falcons have that in Abraham and the Dolphins have that in Joey Porter. 16.5 sacks for Abraham, 17.5 sacks for Porter.

The Chiefs will be lucky if any one player nabs eight.

1-6 at the Bye. If not 0-7.
