Well, that was fun. At approximately 7 hours, 10 minutes, that was the longest outage we've had since moving to this server. Hopefully it won't happen again.

Kyle might be around at some point, and he could explain the details better than I can. The basic idea is that something screwy was going on with our server that caused an "abuse alert" to be triggered on our host's network. When that happened, they basically powered off our server until we (Kyle) responded to the alert. After that, we just had to wait for them to go back in and re-activate the account.

Anyway, we're back. Sorry for the outage, and make sure you have http://s10.invisionfree.com/Downtime_CP/ bookmarked for status updates in case of a Planet outage.

Oh, and FAX, it looks like the Headless Mod hasn't taken us out just yet.

Huh, I didn't even notice because I just got home from work. I suppose that will make getting caught up on the day's events here that much quicker.

BTW, my wife said she tried to send an email to my @chiefsplanet account this afternoon and it was returned, could that be related to this event?

Morphius could answer that better than I, but I think the answer is yes. Our whole server was down, so DNS resolution of email would have been affected (even though the email itself is handled by Google).

It's kind of hard to slow it down when there are only 5 people online at one time.

Well, for the record, our occasional outages have had nothing to do with users online. This server (that we moved to in February 2008) has been rock solid when it comes to server loads. We just keep having a weird issue here or there that knocks us offline entirely.

Heh...I forgot about the fucking fire last year. I guess that was longer than this outage. :shake:

Whew! That was close.

Thank God everybody's okay. I knew the whole time that this problem wasn't related to the Headless Mod, of course. I mean, only a lop-eared dolt would believe such a thing. I have to admit, though, I was just a little concerned about the Dickless Mod being on the loose. But now that everything's back to normal, our heads and our dicks can sleep easy tonight knowing that our heads and our dicks are safe.
