I attribute the latter trilogy's suckage to the fact that Lucas can't direct worth a sh!t and his head is relatively the size of Jupiter.

Horrible writing, horrible casting and the good actors he did get gave horrible performances as a result of his ego's refusal to hand over the reigns.
