All football fans should make the pilgrimage to the Pro Football Hall of Fame at least once. The museum, while I wouldn't spend more than 4-5hrs there, was worthwhile. Enshrinement weekend is a great time to go. Many former players, coaches, personnel and HOFers make the trek for the weekend and it's a great opportunity to see some of them.

I made the trip to see DT get inducted and went to the museum, but I did not know a new wing in the museum was being opened: The Lamar Hunt Superbowl Gallery. When we arrived early Saturday morning and were just starting to venture through the museum, one of the employees recognized our Chiefs gear and told us that the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new gallery was going on right now. He took us back where it was occurring and as we arrived Clark Hunt was speaking, followed by his mother. Former players, Chiefs and NFL personnel including Roger Goodell, Troy Aikman, Bart Starr, Len Dawson, Bobby Bell, Willie Lanier and Jan Stenerud were on hand.

Following the ribbon cutting, the VIP's entered into the gallery and a short 20 minutes later they opened it to the public. Most of the VIP's were still in the gallery when the public was let in so it was a great opportunity to meet some of them. The gallery has a enclosed window for each Super Bowl year with player and game memorobilia along with a tv playing a continously-running game highlight. Then at the end of the gallery is a turnstyle theater showing a new video "The Road to the Super Bowl".

Below are some pictures from the HOF museum and enshrinement.

BTW, the Rock & Roll HOF was Awesome too!

I was about 3 rows behind you.

Cool pictures, I did not get to go to the museum. I want to try to make it out when it's not so crowded.

I brought a DT jersey but it's kind of beaten up. The Dorsey jersey also fits better. ;)

You should have kicked Blackledge in the nuts.

I thought that was an amusing photo op. I wonder if Blackledge knows people want to pose with him in photos because of his legendary bust status?

You should have kicked Blackledge in the nuts.

Thinks for postiing the pictures!

But the Blackledge picture was a real shocker, doesn't he get it? Was a kicker, that shall not be mentioned by name, there also?

Blackledge is on some HOF board or something. Lord knows why or how. He lives in Canton, I guess it's convenient for them.

Awesome man...

Looks like it was a good time.

I kinda wish that they had used one of the old AFL style footballs in the game last night. That would have been fricken awesome.

Are you standing in a hole, or is Todd Blackledge 6'9" tall?

Todd was very nice and talkative. I didn't even bring up the Chiefs with him. We just talked college ball for a while, what games he's broadcasting this year and where he should do his "taste of the town" segment if he gets a game in Gainesville.

Nice photos. I definitely want to go there one day. We're considering going when TG is inducted.

It looks like a really good time.

I think it would be hysterical if you put together a slideshow of the following:

You by Bobby Bell's likeness; Caption: Hall of Fame bust
You by Len Dawson's likeness; Caption: Hall of Fame bust
You by Derrick Thomas' likeness; Caption: Hall of Fame bust
You standing next to Todd Blackledge; Caption: Hall of Fame bust

He's pictured on a board that talks about the 1983 QB class, but the only ones picturs (IIRC) are Kelly, Blackledge, and Elway.

Will Shields will get in before Gonzo.

It'll be close. Guards take forever to be inducted. And being the best TE, maybe ever, won't take long at all.

Anyway, great pics!:thumb:

Randall McDaniel and Will Sheild's resumes are nearly identical. Both played 14 years. McDaniel started 220 games, Shields started 223. Both made 12 Pro Bowls. Both 9x All-Pro.

McDaniel retired after the 2001 season and was inducted in 2009.
Shields retired after the 2006 season which means he should be inducted by 2014 at the latest.

Gonzo would have to retire right now to get inducted in 2014.
