Found out today that I will more than likely be working with a 5 year old who had Down Syndrome.
I spent some time working with him today and the little guy is a hand full. Constantly out of his seat and refuses to do most anything he is asked.
I am trained to work with children who are Autistic or have Asperger syndrome... not DS. I'm in the process of reading up on DS and learning as much as I can about it but nothing beats learning from someone with first hand experience.
I still need to get more information on the child as well as talk to his parents to find out what does and does not work for them.
So. Anyone out there have any tips to make his first year in school go as smoothly as possible?
