It's a pretty sad statement about Nebraska football when you have to go back to 1997, and an ILLEGAL play, to get affirmation about yourselves and your program. There's no denying that Nebraska used to have a dominant football program. No question about it. However, that was a LONG time ago my friends. From 2003 forward, this series has been anything but kind to Nebraska. I'll spare you the annual run down because it isn't pretty. Brad Smith and Chase Daniel layed the lumber to the black socks. There's no denying it.

The ridiculous comments about Gabbert vs. your kid can be put on hold until we see either of them in starting in a REAL game. Scrimmages mean nothing. Frankly, I don't know how Gabbert is going to be, but I know the coaches are very excited about him.

Here's my honest assement of the situation for what it's worth: Nebraska will never be NEBRASKA again...there are too many things working against it. However, there are too many things working in favor of Nebraska being better than it has been and being a contender in the B12N in most years. I know Nebraska fans don't want to hear that, but that's how I see it. Missouri lost too much on offense to believe it will be as good on that side of the ball, but the thing that gives Tigers fans hope is that our o-line is REALLY good. Nebraska fans know how important THAT is. Finally, Missouri defense will be noticably better this season...check out our trio of killer DEs (Coulter, Smith and Smith) Nasty!

Yea becuz Gabbert has done so much at Mizzou and we know all those great recruits Bill Callahan recruited were awesome. Green is 6'4 and runs a 4.6 he's going to be a beast. Not that it matters, but Gabbert is 6'5 and runs a 4.65 40. He was also rated the #1 pro-style QB in the country for 2008 (Rivals). A better comparison for Green would be James Franklin, who has been called the #1 QB prospect in Texas this year (Rivals #7 dual-threat QB for 2010). 6'2, 4.6 40, and a great arm.

Once again, none of that really matters. I think you'll get plenty of Blaine Gabbert when the Nubs visit Columbia, where they haven't won in 8 years.

Eh all you mizzou fans think you have a good football team even though they've won 0 championships and went to 0 BCS games.Yes, the team is likely "good." I'm not sure how going to a championship or BCS game more than 4 years ago would have ANYTHING to do with this year's team.

"Eh all you Nub fans think you have a good football team even though they've been smashed by Missouri 52-17 and 41-6 the past two years." Honestly, if the past two years aren't incredibly relevant (and for the most part, they aren't), how can stuff that happened >10 years ago be any more relevant?
