What historical Chiefs' o-line do you bring back with you for protection against the Ravens in the season opener? (Assuming that Croyle is starting.) The only stipulation here is that you can't mix and match: all 5 linemen have to have started at least one regular season game together. [Feel free to throw in the TE(s) if you want.]

C Casey Wiegmann
G Brian Waters
G Will Shields
T John Tait
T Willie Roaf
TE Tony Gonzalez

FB Tony Richardson <-- Wasn't too shabby of a blocker

I include Gonzalez because his pass catching presence may help keep the safeties and linebackers honest. I think the other 5 guys can handle things well enough.

Well, that was a short thread. I suppose, though, an argument could be made for Alt, Szott, Grunhard, Shields, and whomever (Sigler? Baldinger? I'm doing this from memory and can't recall the better tackle.)

Could those power guys hand the pass happy offenses of today?

This was actually my first thought. :thumb:

I was just curious to see if any of the old-timers would have gone for the Alt era. He was a mainstay but didn't have Roaf's reputation nationally. And of course there were a few good linemen pre-Alt. Not sure we've got too many folks here that remember those years very well.

Alt, Szott, Grunhard & Shields - sounds like a law firm.

Alt, Szott, Grunhard were animals and were ROCK SOLID! throw in a Young Shields with Baldinger and you have a line capabale of good pass blocking and terrorizing the run D.

You're right about Alt, he just never got the attention he deserved.:shake:

Yeah, I was like 10 years old then. 10 year olds don't pay attention to offensive lines. They pay attention to people like Joe Montana, Marcus Allen, and Christian Okoye.

No matter how good they were on their own, they will be the first to admit that success came from the O-Line

:spock:

Who cares what his stance was like, he got the job done. Hell He could line up in a tutu, heals and ass backwards, as long as he got the job done. :thumb:ROFL

Although the O-Line of the early 90's was very good... no one... NO ONE was as good as what we had from 2002-2005. That line MANHANDLED anyone in their warpath.

Brodie could be a Pro-Bowler behind some of those lines.

Wasn't EJ Holub the center for that group? I'm not sure when Rudnay showed up but EJ played in the SB.

Yeah, 1970 was Rudnay's first year.

Well his knees got him in the end from 365 lb Ted Washington landing on him. but he lasted 14 seasons. That position is great for taking a shit too. I wouldn't criticize his technique any dude, you don't know what you are talking about.

Rudnay was injured during the Super Bowl season.

We've had some strong ones, but you can't go with anything other than Roaf, Waters, Wiegman, Shields, Tait.
