I read that CC Sabathia wouldn't vote for Greinke because he hasn't seen him pitch.

Obviously. I mean, have you compared the number of wins this season?

If Zach can pitch 7 scoreless innings (or 7 innings w/out an earned run) on Sunday, he'll end up with an ERA under 2 for the season.

That might be his ace in the hole...

I don't see how any rational person doesn't vote for him already, but I know the east coast (and wins) bias runs deep...

Go Zach (and get the 8 more Ks to break Leonard's single season Royals K record while you are at it)!

He needs 17 to officially seal the deal.

Great for Zack, still trying...really trying to care about baseball. I mean as bad as the Chiefs are I just can't muster any emotional connection to the game of baseball anymore.

Royals win!!! Greinke 16-8!!! 2.06 ERA

Best season by a Royals pitcher in quite a long time.

I hope he wins the Cy!!

I hope he gets a no decision or a loss in his final start, considering he'll face the Twins, and their playoff chances will most likely hinge on that final series.

That doesn't make any sense.

Yes it does.

Someone from the KCstar did the research a few weeks back. The fewest wins by an American League Cy Young winner in the past 10 years was Pedro with 18, 8 or 9 years ago.

Ironically, Cone won in KC with 16 wins back in 94, but that was the strike year.

I don't think 17 makes a lick of difference at this point. People know he's on a team that's performed poorly. It's his ERA, strikeout totals, etc... that will win him the award.

I just looked it up. Brandon Webb won in 06 in the NL with 16 wins.

I do worry about the east coast bias though. I wonder how many of those voters have even seen Grienke pitch??

Baseball Tonight crew earlier today said it should be Greinke. Then Ravich pipes up and asks if Sabathia's numbers weren't quite as good because he knew everytime out he'd get a bunch of run support. Therefore, he was more inclined to "just throw strikes" knowing he could give up a little and still win.

I couldn't believe that was coming out of his mouth as an argument for CC. So because CC plays for the Yankees, he can be less of a pitcher and still win games. Give up more runs, strike out fewer guys, etc. And that's the guy that deserves the Cy Young? The guy with worse numbers across the board? What a damn idiot. Beware fans of Greinke, people are going to work VERY hard not to give him this award.

If Greinke doesn't win then the award is invalidated. Forever. There isn't a single argument for anyone other than Zack. That's not hyperbole -- there really isn't any possible logical argument in favor of someone else.

That's like saying Pujols didn't try hard on days when Chris Carpenter pitched because he knew they didn't need as many runs. Really.
