Chiefs traded QB Tyler Thigpen to the Dolphins for an undisclosed draft pick.
The Chiefs were reportedly holding out for a fourth-rounder earlier in the year, but it would be surprising if they got more than a fifth. Chad Pennington's injury left the Dolphins without an experienced backup, so Thigpen will be a nice insurance policy. Since Miami wants to take a look at their quarterback of the future for the rest of the season, Thigpen won't be a threat to Chad Henne's starting job. Sep. 29 - 1:48 pm et

12/15/2009

Miami, FL (AP) -- After yet another miraculous come-from-behind win, the entire city is embracing unlikely hero and new franchise QB Tyler Thigpen. Thigpen, liberated from Kansas City in a trade for a 7th-round pick in 2012, saw action in early October when Chad Henne was lost for the season to injury like his predecessor Chad Pennington. Dolphins coach Tony Spumoni elevated Thigpen to the starter's job, reasoning, "he's not named Chad, so we hope he manages to stay on the field a while". Since then, the AFC East-leading Dolphins have gone undefeated and have a solid hold on the division lead. Coach Soprano said, "Thigpen is one-in-a-million. He's got poise, leadership, and is perfect for the Wildcat offense, which requires a fast QB who can think on his feet, attributes which Tyler perfected in running the Kansas City offense... well, actually, running for his life in the Kansas City offense. And since we never throw the ball farther than 20 yards downfield, his accuracy issues don't cause a problem."

Meanwhile, in Kansas City, officials are still trying to find out who is sending death threats to the winless Chiefs' GM Scott Pioli. Police say it's hard to pin down the threat-maker since the person has managed to disguise their voice and fill the Chiefs' office phone with death threats that sound like 20,000 different voices. They also have no leads on the suspects who all took a shit in Pioli's car, filling it to the roof with turds.

Begs the question. Who is Andy Dufresne? Us, or Thigpen?

God, I love this board sometimes.

In 2009, Tyler Thigpen escaped from Arrowhead prison. All they found of him was a muddy set of shoulder pads, a bar of soap, and an old playbook, unread. I used to think it would take six-hundred years to get traded that way. Old Thiggy did it in less than two.

Oh, Thiggy loved football. I guess it appealed to his wild-ass nature. An interception here, million passes thrown off target there. Football is the study of pressure and time in the pocket. That's all it takes really, pressure, and time in the pocket. That, and a big god-damned tight end.

Like I said, in Arrowhead a man will do anything to keep his mind occupied. It turns out Thiggy's favorite hobby was looking at his first read and running, a snap at a time. I guess after Tony was traded, he decided he had been here just about long enough.

Thiggy did like he was told, ran that scout team as poorly as he could. The guards simply didn't notice. Neither did I... I mean, seriously, how often do you really look at a man's footwork?

Thiggy crawled to freedom through one-hundred yards of shit smelling offense I can't even imagine, or maybe I just don't want to. One hundred yards... that's the length of one football field, just shy of the end zone Thiggy would never reach again.

Pioli's judgment cometh. And that right soon.

Well, Miami's off the Atlantic, so he's shit out of luck on that one.

And since Tony G left first, that doesn't work. if Thigpen = Andy, then he'd be scrubbing the boat, and the person who comes upon him (the child-molesting character who likes stepdaughters) would be someone currently on the Chiefs who gets freed later on.

I would all but guarantee that we're getting back the "conditional" pick that we sent Miami for the scrub OL men.

So basically, I'm betting we traded Thigpen for Ndukwe and Alleman.

This is exactly what I thought as soon as I saw he was traded. If I recall correctly the pick that the chiefs traded for Ndukew and Alleman was undisclosed as well (was it ever determined what this undisclosed pick we sent to Miami was?). Then today Thigpen is traded to Miami for an undisclosed pick. Coincidence I think not. All they did was give the chiefs back their undisclosed pick that the chiefs already traded to Miami. However I suppose all of this is just speculation until we know for sure, but I'd be willing to bet this is what happened.

I can see your point and it is a valid point about QB protection and the chiefs possibly having to use several this year if more injuries ensue (hopefully this won't be the case). However is it possible that now was the perfect time to trade Thigpen while he still had some trade value left. I'm thinking yes. But then again what do I know. I'm just a fan. The NFL has announced that they are contracting down from 32 teams. They have decided to combine New England, New York (AFC), Miami, Kansas City, Denver, and Cleveland all into one team and simply call it the American Parcellsians, since almost every player or coach for those teams can be somehow tied to Parcells in a "Six Degrees of Separation" kind of way. Well, considering that my guess it would be a 6th round, possible a 5th if he meets certain numbers or games started, I'd say that's a steal, considering that at best, he's a back-up QB, or doesn't have a job.

And as my previous post, it does open up a man to fill in the 53 roster, and I hope the Chiefs are planning to get an offensive lineman to fill that open spot.

Sometimes people got to take chances. I wondered why the Chiefs were carrying 4 QB's on the active roster, and it made no sense. Now we all know why.

Uh, they've been to the playoffs the past couple of years and more times than the Chiefs in the last decade. I bet their record since 2000 kicks the Chiefs as well.

Chiefs were in the playoffs in 03 and 06... Miami has been in the playoffs once (2008) since 03...

They do have the same amount of playoff wins since 2001 - 0

Miami Dolphins since 2003 are 41-58
Chiefs record since 2003 - 45-54

im done...

I'm sorry but you're quite wrong, again. But then again, what else is new?

Miami Dolphins:

2001: 11-5 (Playoff Loss)
2002: 9-7
2003: 10-6
2004: 4-12
2005: 9-7
2006: 6-10
2007: 1-15
2008: 11-5 (Playoff Loss)
2009: 0-3

Total This Decade: 61 wins, 70 losses. No Playoff Wins

Kansas City Chiefs:

2001: 6-10
2002: 8-8
2003: 13-3 (Playoff Loss)
2004: 7-9
2005: 10-6
2006: 9-7
2007: 4-12
2008: 2-14
2009: 0-3

Total This Decade: 59 wins, 72 losses. No Playoff Wins.

I'm sure Thigpen is stoked to go to such a superior football team.

LMAO

I know it shouldn't count, since it was Herm's first year with DV's team, and Herm didn't even try.
He wasn't even aware of making the playoffs until his wife told him.

Damn I hated him for that, as I had just came from the game KC had to win, and listened to the other games unfold, such as SF beating Denver at Mile High, but the Chiefs did make the playoffs in 2006/07

Both teams have losing records this decade.

Both teams have TWO playoff appearances in which they both LOST.

Out of 131 games, the Dolphins have won 61 and the Chiefs 59.

You're INSANE if you think the Dolphins are BETTER.

Any idea what the draft pick will be? Anything more than a 7th would be surprising. Maybe we get the pick back we were to send to Miami for the two O linemen?

Personally I am just glad to have him gone and no longer taking up a roster spot.

You saw the numbers and statistically they are. They've certainly been to the playoffs more recently than the Chiefs. So yes, they are better. You'd have a point if you were arguing that it's only marginally but you are not.

As usual, you don't know what you're talking about.

The Miami Dolphins made the playoffs last year for two reasons: Tom Brady's injury and the fact they had the weakest schedule in all of the NFL. They only beat TWO TEAMS with a winning record last year: The Pats in week 3 and the Jets in week 17, against Brett Favre and his torn bicep.

They got their asses handed to them on a platter in the playoffs and are 0-4 in their last four games.

Here's some fascinating trivia.

First, Tyler Thigpen leaves as the Chiefs' 50th-ranked all-time rusher.

Second, #49 is Jamal Charles.

You can't write a script more compelling than that.

That's nothing. Go check out that undefeated season of theirs, and the records of the teams they beat. IIRC they didn't even beat a team over .500 that year. Every time they show smug Don Shula and drugged-out Mercury Morris and the other old Depends-wearing f**ks chugging their champagne when the last team loses, I want to put a cap their wrinkled asses.

Stats can be whacked. On ESPN, as they were all fellating Lord Favrhruh after this weekend, they had a graphic for QBs with the most wins in the last minute or in OT or something like that. His Holiness The Brett was third on the list. I don't remember who was second. First? Drew Bledsoe. Shit, I'm a Patriots fan, and even I don't remember him being that good...

So let me get this straight:

Round about final cuts, Pioli whipped out his crystal ball and proceeded to divine that Pennington would injure himself, and that the Fish would need a Wildcatting QB of Thiggy's awesome powers and ability.

TOTALLY believable!
