Thomas Howard beat his own organization’s Twitter account to the punch, announcing the Raiders had brought back kickoff return specialist Justin Miller.
Howard’s Twitter account said: RaiderNation let’s welcome back #22 Justin Miller. He’ll be returning KickOffs for us this week.
Jonathan Holland returned kickoffs in place of Louis Rankin against Denver and was stopped inside the 20-yard line twice before finishing with a 31-yard return.
Miller had two touchdowns for the Raiders returning kickoffs last season. After a poor preseason finale in the secondary, Miller was cut, with undrafted free agent Nick Miller getting the job. Nick Miller, however, was diagnosed with a broken bone above his shin in the week preceding the opener.
Justin Miller had worked out recently with the Tennessee Titans.
