Hey guys, I know its been a while for me but I was wondering if anyone on here was in or near Rochester MN? My friend here at the sheriffs office has been fighting cancer for over a year. They told her last week that if they could not get her into the Mayo clinic soon, they needed to discuss how much time she had left. On Friday, she recieved a call to be there Monday. Thankfully, they had a bed open and her surgery is for this week. A company here in town has offered to fly them there and back.

I was looking for information on places to stay there. He has 3 nights in the Ameristar extended stay, but after that is stuck unless he Qualifies for the Hope House. I didnt know if this Ameristay is a hole in the wall or not. Is there another place like the Hope house there? Like a ronald McDonald or anything. Any info, and many prayers, would be much appreciated.

when I was there, we stayed at a pretty cheap motel and there is bus service to any place that Mayo sends you. Motel even comped every other day due to our situation. Most will work deals if you talk with them

When I was up there with my mom a couple years back we stayed at Extended Stay America, there are two of them there, one north and one south. I booked them on Hotwire, very cheap. Both locations were decent. You get a much better rate on hotwire. Just go on Hotwire, and look for a 2 star rating with the only amenity being laundry facilities. I'm thinking we paid $39/night staying for a week at a time

DO NOT stay at the Motel 6 there. Total flea bag.

I live just outside Roch. Ameristay doesn't ring any bells and I can't find them on the WWW. They have a Ronald Mcdonald house and many new extended stay type hotels. Everything you will need will be on South Broadway (HWY 63). That will give you easy access to the clinic and downtown area. Most hotels have Mayo shuttle service. Please let me know if I can help more.

I'm pretty sure they are talking about the Extended Stay America. We stayed at the one on the north side of town by the Super Target. Nice place, especially for the $41.99 rate. Not going to find a better deal than that. Their Mayo rate is $41.99/night and they have a full kitchen, which saves you $$$ on food. They also have a shuttle to Mayo, and there are a ton of places to eat and buy food within walking distance of the hotel.

Here's what you do.... Call the local paper. Ask them if they'd do a story on your friend. Then see if Extended Stay America would be willing to comp a room for some positive publicity.
