1996-1997

Maybe a couple weeks after we beat the fuck out of the 2000 Rams.

1997. A little in 2003.

2003 for sure. PTI used to talk about the Offense a lot. But it's been a long long time.

...the last time our defense was respected was 1997 probably. Also it was the last time it was deserving of respect...

In the bye week before that playoff game against the Colts in 95.

That was a glorious week. That snow sucked, and the kicker......well he wasn't very good.

The Chiefs have a solid history in the league as partcipants in the founding of the AFC. They have a lot of credit built up through the years.
The KC franchise is still respected even if the current team is not playing well and a large portion of their fans are mullet wearing ne'er do wells.

Superbowl 4. Which is laughable because it was 40 years ago.

I hate to admit but we are one of the laughing stocks of the nfl bc we haven't won a championship in 40 yrs. And when we did win there were 8 teams or something like that. Jeebus

guys guys Chiefs were respected long after Super Bowl IV and after Marty was our HC. You know the answer and you know I'm right. All I'm talking about is respected not touted as the best team in the league.

I respected you guys with Vermeil.

Definately in the late 90's. You guys always went toe-to-toe with our back-to-back Super Bowl teams.

We might have been in the mid to late 90's... But they were just regular season respect...

No one ever feared us in the playoffs during the 90's....

I will take regular season respect right now and so would everyone else who is a Chiefs fan.

as long as you produced in the playoffs....

I would rather win when it counts, then to worry about the Chiefs messing up my little tailgate social party...

So you created this thread so you could reminisce about the days that you sucked Marty?

We don't care how much you miss Marty's dick.

As a transplanted New Englander I can tell you I always respected the Chiefs franchise. They didn't turn to suck until 2007.

Vermeil's final season, the Chiefs were the so called "team no one wanted to face" if they made the playoffs (which of course they didn't).

Yeah the league sure respected the Vermeil teams - the freaking commish made fun of them in his speech right before the Super Biowl.

2003 Dante Hall and our offense/Oline tearing up the league. Being able to move the ball and impose our will on other teams offensively.

The only problem is that we had one of the NFL history's worst defenses ever fielded.

If you want to get technical, we were kind of respected this past offseason. ESPN and the east coast media just wanted to snuggle into our bosoms all day when we signed their boy Scott Pioli.

2003 - it was the best of times, it was the worst of times.

It's when we last had a glimmer of hope at a Super Bowl but it's also when the future of the franchise was sold out for that same glimmer of hope and what we have is what you see today.

I personally have faith in the new engineers however.

Answer: we were last respected when DV was our HC. We had one of the best OL and Top 3 O in the league for 5 years. All we had to do was fix our D. A far cry from what we have today. Many did not appreciate what we had and would kneel down today and pray for it back.

Dumbasses!

I knew when DV left but CP didn't go with him that we be in big trouble.

Here we are.

My big hope is Haley/Pioli can make big strides by next season and get us competitive.
I know I am asking a lot and we may have to wait until 2011.
