So does Jared Allen beat Tamba in a foot race? They look similar in speed to me.

And do some of you realize Jared has long arms he uses for leverage.

Look at how tall Hali is. Do you think that might make a difference?

Look at the NY Giants and their good Dends-Both are TALL.

Mathias Kiwanuka is like 6 or 7 inches taller than Tamba.

I think Tamba is about the same size as Umeniyora though.

What's your question?

Jared ran a 4.88 I believe. Tamba was a 4.7 something if I recall but not positive. Who cares really?

I wonder who would win a game of horse.

Pretty sure both were in the 4.8's. I think one was 4.86 and the other was 4.81. Both also had pretty pathetic bench press numbers. I think Hali did 18 reps and Allen did 13. Obviously hasn't hurt Allen, although I'm sure he has gotten stronger since then.

He's 7 feet tall? WTF?

I'd say 40 times are pretty irrelevant. Jared plays fast and has a burst. Tamba has to rely on perfect technique and leverage.

6-3 vs 6-5

Tamba is thicker so you think he's shorter...

One of the weaknesses listed in Tamba's draft ratings was that he could easily get swallowed up by offensive tackles because of marginal size and short arms. Let's hope Stubby's speed holds up.

with your theory, Plaxico Burress would make a great DE

I swear to god, this is the shit that makes me want to log off and never come back..... production is the only, and I mean ONLY relevant frame of reference for comparing any position for any team in the NFL....

To date Hali has had a more successful career.

Let's just ignore that.

You want your 4-3 DE to be built like a big basketball player - tall, long arms, explosive first move, really good center of balance to keep the shoulders low as they explode out of their stance.

Yea that's kind of ignoring that Kiwanuka has been a 4th end...now a 3rd end and used as a LB in his career.

I think if he had as much play time as Hali he'd have much much better numbers.

Jared would Hog tie Hali and shave a mullet in his head. What's the point?

And if he were on this team, he'd get plenty of playing time.

What's with all of these comparisons between Allen and Hali lately? Obviously Allen is a much better player.

It's apples to oranges now since Tamba is a linebacker LMAO.

He started all 16 games last year and had 8 sacks. No better than Tamba's rookie and second season.
