View Full Version : Life A game and a funeral?

So, my grandmother passed away yesterday, so I'll be coming to Kansas City this weekend for the first time since fall 2006. It won't really be a fun and exciting trip, but the irony of being in Kansas City for the first time in 3 years on a game day and not being able to make it to the game hit me today.

Sigh...

(For the record, I appreciate any kind thoughts, but this isn't necessarily a prayer thread. I wasn't especially close to my grandma, so the occasion is more for the support of my family than anything. That said, I'm not actually morbid enough to try and get out of the game at 3 and try to make the funeral at 4.)

It could be fun if you learn about your grandma, fun stories, funerals are sad, but they can also be fun rewarding way to soak in life and death.

Depends where's the funeral. An hour should be fine for a good chunk of the city.

First of all sorry for your loss....Second the game will more than likely be over by the third quarter and there are plenty of seats available. SO I doubt leaving early will be of any significance. Plus if you hang out with more than one person at the game you can call it a "wake" for your grandmother if anyone give you any grief.

Yup. Driving out Saturday, driving back Monday. Gotta love 20 hours of driving in 3 days.

I would definitely try to take in an hour or two of the game, if even from a cheap endzone seat.

You can get tickets pretty cheap. Even a half would be worth $30 if I didn't have a chance to get to more games. Tailgating is worth that :)

I can't remember if I made it to any after that or not, but it was definitely that season.

Driving through Kansas is so much fun.

They should sentence serial killers and child molesters to drive across Kansas over and over and over.
