Seymour sees playoffs for Raiders in 2009 (http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/10/21/seymour-sees-playoffs-for-raiders-in-2009/)

This week's episode of Two Deep Zone on 1530 Homer with former NFL players Artrell Hawkins and Charles Fisher included not only some eye-opening remarks from Seahawks receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh, but also a jaw-dropping prediction from Raiders defensive lineman Richard Seymour.

Seymour says that the Raiders are going to the playoffs.

"You can mark it down," Seymour said. "The Raiders will be in the playoffs in 2009."

(Upon hearing the prediction, the NFL asked Seymour to submit to reasonable-cause drug testing.)

It's really not a completely ridiculous suggestion. At 2-4, the Raiders are only a game behind the logjam of teams jockeying for the No. 6 seed. Currently, the Ravens, Jets, Jaguars, and Texans are 3-3. The Dolphins and Chargers are 2-3.

All they need to do is call more 80 yard TD passes to their tight end.

The 2009 Denver Broncos are proof that the world will end in 2012. At this point, anything can happen.

I'm guessing he is going to accidentally blow out Jamarcus Russell's knee in practice.

At this point I'm not going to laugh at anybody for thinking they can still get in the playoffs. There are a LOT of teams right now with CRAPPY records.

Apparently even someone steeped in "The Patriot Way" cannot avoid the stench that "Commitment to Excrement" causes. They breathe it in and go full retard.

Truth. BUT. I probably would laugh at someone that thinks the Chiefs are playoff bound.

I see Richard's been enjoying California, specifically the high number of marijuana growers.

Richard. Have you looked around you? Have you noticed that Tom Cable is not Bill Belichick, and Jamarcus Russell is not Tom Brady? Have you noticed the lack of talent? The Raiders would need a miracle of Biblical proportions just to SNIFF finishing 8-8.

Actually the Raiders have quite a bit of talent, they just don't know to use it.

As long as the dancing elephant is at QB the world is safe from any Raiders threat.

If the Raiders replaced Russell with Gradowski, they'd easily win 8 games.

Richard Seymour: Raiders couldn't beat a high school team

Oakland Raiders defensive lineman Richard Seymour is prone to mood swings. One week he thinks his team has playoff potential, and the next ... well, the next Seymour thinks his team is just a wee bit short of playoff caliber.

After insisting last week that the Raiders will make the playoffs this year, Seymour dramatically toned down his rhetoric following a 38-0 defeat to the Jets.

"I don't think we could've beat an Oakland high school team," USA Today quotes Seymour saying after the loss to the Jets.

Seymour noted that "Playing from behind isn't our strong suit," which leaves open the question of what is the Raiders' strong suit. Whatever it is, the Raiders didn't show it off on Sunday, when Seymour's statement that they couldn't beat a high school team didn't look like that big of an exaggeration.

LMAO. Seymour is becoming a joke.

I can fully understand why Seymour said what he said to begin with. He's doing his best to give the Raiders some swagger and get some confidence. Well, whatever confidence boosting Seymour was inclined to give has effectively been squashed out by yet another beatdown.

Pretty bold prediction considering the playoffs don't start until 2010, but whatever.

Are you inferring that JaMarcus Russell is not every bit as good of a QB that Brady is? Need I remind you Russell was the number 1 draft pick? :spock:
