So how come Usc gets a free pass for losing to a unranked team and Alabama has to block to two fgs in the final minutes to win?

Amazingly, we could by 7-0 right now with wins over Iowa (should have put in Nick Foles in the 2nd half) and without two *horrible* game losing calls against Washington.

I'll take top 25 for the first time in a decade though. :)

All I remember about that game is how bad your quarterback was. Just abysmal.

USC at 4 is just an atrocity.

They shouldn't be above Cincinnati, Iowa, TCU or LSU. Hopefully Oregon takes care of them this week.

And people argued with me when I said SC would get the benefit of the doubt, after all these years has it not been figured out yet how this works?

You could make an argument that both Texas and Bama deserve the top spot more than Flrida does.

TCU and Cincy just like Boise will never be given the benefit over big name college football programs everyone knows this.

If Iowa keeps barely winning games they're going to continue to be lower also due to perception.

TCU and Boise both look pretty fucking tough right now. I'm thinking that not Texas, Bama, or Florida wants to see either team in a bowl game this year.

I think they'd love to play those teams...

Boise basically had 1 tough team all year and then struggled with Fresno and Tulsa...Tulsa who has been rocked several times.

The truth is the people that vote in polls know what games they don't want to see and that plays in.

Sure, though Bama was less than impressive yesterday.

Matt Scott shouldn't have been playing in the 2nd half. Our backup QB has come in and dominated. Scott will almost certainly transfer after the season.

I can't wait for like TCU or Boise State to get matched up w/ USC and just get the complete crap beat out of them. I would laugh into the night

TCU has a much more difficult schedule than Boise State. Boise played Oregon and the rest of their season is against garbage.

Almost feel sorry for Iowa fans, the way they're being set up to get destroyed in a major bowl game. Hope it doesn't happen, but sure looks like the stars are lining up that way.

The Big 10 has been very formidable in their bowl games, with the exception of the national title games in the last 5 years. If anything, the Big 10 is underrated because the media has devalued them so much. Iowa can hang w/ alot of teams you wouldn't expect because they make you play ugly.

If you get the SEC winner vs Texas in the title game then the Rose bowl is going to be Iowa vs SC, unless some losses happen.

It looks to me after Oregon's first couple of games of the season they really put it together. That game should be a pick em game if you ask me since it's @ Oregon. Oregon just beat the piss out of Washington, @ Washington...and of course we all know what happened when USC played them. Yes, I know - they were w/ out Mr Barkley but still.

Iowa can hang w/ alot of teams you wouldn't expect because they make you play ugly.I'm a Michigan fan, so don't think I'm biased against the big 10, or Iowa in particular. I've seen them play several times this year. To me they seem eerily reminiscent of a Marty-era chiefs team just waiting to disappoint when the games count. They've eeked out several wins against teams that just aren't very good (Northern Iowa and the two block FGs, Michigan with the stupid turnovers, Michigan State) and I don't really see any kind of signature performance that makes me think they're a real contender. The Penn State and Wisconsin wins are nice, I guess, but I didn't see either of them as a top team on a national scale, regardless of where the Nittany Lions were/are ranked.

But they can only play who's on their schedule and hopefully they'll take down Ohio State on the road, won't slip in their other games, which should all be pushovers, and get into the title game. I think they'd have a shot against Alabama in what would be one ugly game, but I think Florida or Texas or maybe even Cincinnati would give them a hard time.

We'll see, I'd like to see a Big 10 team in the title game again, so long as it isn't Ohio State or Penn State.

you could argue that if Boise State had Texas, Florida, Alabama and Cinci for their first 4 games and still went undefeated for the season that they still wouldn't be in the national championship game.

Iowa will struggle w/ any team w/ a spread offense. Playing Alabama would be fine by me. Texas and Florida would probably dismantle Iowa to be honest with you. I don't actually think Iowa is even better than say, Oklahoma, but they've done what they've needed to do and they should be rewarded for it. So many times in the college game I see the, well they are good, but they just weren't focused when they lost to that unranked team. Who cares - look at what a team has done.

And I think the best BCS title game would be Texas and Florida; I think they're the two best out of the teams I've seen play in '09, but who knows how the rest of the season is going to play out. On the other hand it would be nice to get some different teams into the title picture.

Stanzi is too erratic for Iowa to be a contender. Reality will hit before the end of the season.

That being said it's been fun watching them. Ferentz does a great job with second tier talent. He really is a great coach.

Probably. As a realist, Iowa will most likely lose at the Shoe. But I'd give them a 25-35% chance of winning that game. The rest of their games at home vs Northwestern, Indiana, and Minnesota they should be able to take care of business. I would gauge Iowa to be able to go 3-0 out of those games at about 85%.

Both KU and Mizzou beat Big 10 teams in bowls last year.
