Goff continues to steal a paycheck. He got blown up on the failed sneak on 4th and 1, and allowed numerous quarterback pressures and hits. How this guy still has a job is beyond me. Please get Ndukwe in there.
Richardson played pretty well for being thrust into duty at LT. He gave up a few pressures, but didn’t get the QB killed, and for the most part, did his job amicably
Niswanger getting hurt was a blessing in disguise. Smith played quite well at C, and his blocking there helped create a pocket for Cassel to step up and throw into
The guard play is the weak link of this line (as long as Niswanger is out). Waters was poor, and Goff is the worst starter on the entire team, bar none
I’d like to know why Lance Long was getting all the targets until he was KTFO’d by “Tim Robbins”. Bowe is your best player, he made the only big play of the day, give him the targets, not some never was bum. Although I must admit, I did find it somewhat humorous to watch him stumble around like Trevor Berbick. This is the same type of dumbassery that showed itself after the first game with Wade
Sean Ryan is fucking abysmal. He’s a blocking tight end who can’t block, and his stone hands directly caused a turnover. Put Cottam in there, he can at least present match up problems
Cassel wasn’t playing that poorly until the rain began to fall, but that’s something he’s going to have to deal with. Yes, he was unlucky on the first pick, but he threw two in the first half that either were intercepted (and called back by penalty) or should have been intercepted. Once the ball got wet, he was a fucking abortion—overthrowing Charles and Wade to miss big plays, or overthrows that led directly to two picks. That was some truly horrendous QB’ing in the last 20 minutes of the game
Brown and McGraw got their shit handed to them. Again. Please get Morgan in there. At least give him a chance to fuck up, rather than letting him rot while Lance fucking Long and Bobby Wade get run right off the street
DJ made the only play I remember anyone making all day on defense, outside of Flowers in the early going.
Haley went into “give up” mode with 7 minutes left again. I’m starting to wonder if he’s childish and just takes his ball and goes home when the going gets tough.
I said before that this game would show how much improvement the Chiefs really have shown. I thought they could conceivably win against a team that appeared to be quitting on its coach. Well, I was wrong. Not only were they never in this game, but it appears that they have made no improvement in any phase of the game from last year, save for an incremental increase in Rush D (although we still manage to get gashed for big plays every week). SD’s run O is the bottom of the barrel, and they consistently moved the ball against us, save for when we knew that Norv was trying to pad LT’s fantasy stats.

Nice analysis, Hamas. What about Charles? I was really encouraged until he cheered Hester along on his parade to Colquitt on the blocked punt.

He's a running back. If you don't like how he blocks on the edge in ST, bring a fucking blocking back or TE there. Guys ole that shit all the time. It just so happens he got burned on that one. The biggest problem is pressure up the middle on punts.

My thoughts.

Every week I think the Chiefs can not suck more than they sucked the last week but every week I am wrong.

We are a tad better on defense, but until the offense does its part, that D is going to get tired and ran over in the 2nd half.

This team has not gotten better over last year. D has a little, but the o is worse then last year. so its an even trade.

One thing i hated was that he did NOT put Brodie in there at the end. He did not want to create a QB controversy. WE all know Brodie has talent, but he's fragile, but Cassel imo is not geting it done. He's a little bit better Thigpen.

Per one of Hamas' comments, I can't figure out why we aren't giving Bowe 25 targets per game. Just put the ball in the guys' hands on quick passes until opponents start keying on him. He's the best broken-field runner we have and the best playmaker.

Some times I think that coaches just outsmart themselves. Rather than trying to send cryptic messages, how about you just give your best players a chance to prove themselves. If they don't, then they obviously aren't that good.

I really wonder why some guys are allowed all the rope in the world to hang themselves with, and others aren't given a strand of dental floss.

Yeah. While I agree that the element of surprise is good, I'm not sure it's a great surprise to take the ball out of the hands of your best players week after week. It's kind of the same element of surprise as running in front of a car.

We would be remiss if we didn't give a nod to the defense for two awesome goal line stands today, though. That was pretty impressive, even if it was against a gimp like Tomlinson.

Uh........The defense sucked from the word go today.

Eh, I somewhat disagree. They held their own several times when the Chargers got in the redzone several times.

They didn't get any help from the offense. None. Nothing at all. Zip. Zero. Zilch.

Of course, what hurt them was Clancy trying to experiment with Flowers playing the nickel while having Richardson playing the other corner along with Carr. That pretty much fucked everything up to hell.

Was that what was happening?

They might as well have cut that Richardson guy and just gone with an extra pass rusher. It didn't help at all to have him running five yards behind Vincent Jackson on every route.

It was funny (sad funny, not haha funny) when Rivers tried to throw to Chris Chambers once and it was incomplete. He went to the sideline and Norv was yelling at him and pointing at Richardson and Vincent Jackson, and it was obvious that he was saying something like "You should have thrown it over here."

MY Thoughts:

1. Cassel left points out on the field today overthrowing two of his targets on what might've been TD's in each case. It happens to the best of them, but if he's ever going to play to his contract number he has to connect on those throws.

2. Bobby Wade's been a good addition to this football team. He consistenly gets open and has been one of the few offensive bright spots this team can boast.

3. Inside the 20's Dwayne Bowe is money in the bank. The Chiefs need to continue to find ways to get him involved regardless of where they are on the field, but in the redzone he's your #1 option.

4. Jamaal Charles has really grown into his role as the Chiefs Kick Returner. He had several good returns today where 1 more block could've resulted in 6 points. I expect to see him take one to the house before the year's up.

5. Todd Haley has too much on his shoulders. This OC experiment isn't working and he needs to relinquish those duties immediately. Retaining the extra responsibilities only puts his job in more jeopardy.

6. Barry Richardson should be inserted into the starting lineup. DaJuan Morgan should also be starting. It's not as though they could possibly be any worse than the players currently starting ahead of them. Couple that truth with the fact that they're former Chiefs draftpicks... Let them play and see if they figure into your future.

7. Derrick Johnson is one of few defenders capable of making big plays. He should be starting from here on out. Tuck your personal feelings Todd and let him play. If he isn't in your long-term plans you can part ways with him after the season.

8. Mike Goff shouldn't play another game for this team unless this problem with Offensive Linemen staying healthy continues. Alleman or Ndukwe should be starting at Guard.

9. Rudy Niswanger shouldn't play another game for this team unless this problem with Offensive Linemen staying healthy continues. Wade Smith should be starting at Center.

what i think:

we suck hard, everywhere, and Cassel was sent by God to twist the knife that God got bored of twisting in the KC Sheep Humping Chiefs...

i don't even think we are an expansion team, we're 30 mil under the cap which could easily be construed as an abdication of the duty to actually field an NFL team if you own a team name and a bunch of jerseys and helmets and jock straps and a stadium with stupid logos on them....

If I had $5 in my pocket I'd pay Clark twice what the franchise is worth and take it off his clueless soccer loving cheapskate hands.

Ding! Ding! Ding!
