View Full Version : Food and Drink Different Rub

Got a couple steaks and decided to try a different rub(well for me).

1/4 cup Chili powder
1/4 cup finely ground coffee
2tbs brown sugar
2tbs smoked paprika
1tbs dry mustard
1tbs pepper
1tsp salt
1tbs oregeno


Pan seared and finished in the oven.

Damn it was good.

Got enough left to store for another use. Interested to see how it would hold up on some smoked meat.

Yum-yum.

Barbecue. Hope you bought Heinz ketchup for that steak; really brings out the rich, BBQ flavor.

Can't afford Heinz, have to use HuntsIn that case, I recommend sprinkling a little black pepper in your Hunts. It'll help unearth the deep, smoky BBQ flavor of your steaks.

FTR PRP, no need to get uppity for putting a rub on the meat and cooking inside. It's raining, and I'm fairly certain these can't be classified as any kind of actual steak. I call them steaks to seem high class.

I just ate a Bar-S brand hotdog wrapped in a flour tortilla with mustard. I'm far from uppity, but I will say that hotdog was mighty fine Q.

I agree. whats the problem with rubbing meat and cooking it inside? not my preferred method but still works.

I like to nuke them just long enough to start cracking the ends. Really brings out the smoky flavor.

Heh, I took some Folgers and ground it for a few seconds in the grinder. Recipe called for ground espresso. I got it to mostly flour consistency although there was little bit that was bigger(which you could definitely feel).

All the time. But I don't use a mortar and pestle. I just put the barley on the counter and whack it with a cast iron pan.

Cast iron even grinds better.
