Robinson showed how raw he is tonight. I'm sure he will improve as the season progresses but he reminded me a little of the Morris' of last year. Speaking of the Morris' they are much improved. Last year they were a black hole if they got the ball on the block....they were going to try and score regardless of what their position was. I saw both of them make some nice passes out of the paint. Collins looked good and Henry showed that he was worth the headache to keep him to Larry Town. I though overall they good but still lots of work to be done.

Looked like Collins was trying to keep up with Henry to me.

Decided before he ever got the ball whether he was gonna shoot that time down the court.

i don't think Robinson looked anywhere near as bad as the Morris twins did last year.

I have no problems with Collins shooting the ball. Its when he tries to do too much in the lane that pisses me off. You didn't see as much of that tonight as you would have last year. I'm glad X can hit the open deep ball. Its going to help since I imagine we are going to be seeing alot of zone this year. If Collins can get penetration and X can hit open 3's its not going to matter what opposing teams do on defense. Its what we were lacking big time last year.

Robinson is better than the twins were at this point last year but he still looked out of sync out there tonight. Like I said, it reminded me a "little" of the twins last year because they always looked like they didn't know what the fuck was going on most of the time and then they would just throw up a bad shot or foul. At least Robinson will pass the ball. He had that nice little nifty pass down low to Aldrich that was impressive.

I only got to listen to the game. Does anyone have any insight into how it went?

It sounded like on the radio, that they needed to work the ball into Cole more frequently. It sounded like the Morrises were playing well. Was it because of inferior talent or were they actually playing well?

BTW, does anyone still want Stephenson?

Broke the century mark.
27 Points from X
23 from Collins.
Hawks shot 56%

The defense
9 blocks
10 steals
forced 17 turnovers
and held them to 33% shooting from the floor.

This was total domination. Of course it's a smaller school... but to be fair they're not pushovers, they're better than their peers and regularly win 20 games a season. Honestly that's the type of team that sometimes gets described as a trap game when they aren't playing the 2009-10 Jayhawks.

this

we have a long way to go to play the kind of D self wants, but that is expected...

Self's teams always show marked improvement over the course of the year which is why I love him as a coach.

X is exactly the piece this team needed. We now have 3 guys that could drop 20 any night, easy (Cole, X, Collins)

Collins is still the heart of this team though. He knows when he needs to score and take control. I still don't think KU fans understand just how good he is, he is a rare player, the best at KU since Pierce in my opinion. If he wanted to he could average 25 points a game this year, no sweat.

We can score so many ways that we are going to struggle all year to get Cole enough touches. We start running and gunning, Cole gets lost. But that is coach's job to constantly preach the post pass.

Our upside defensively is less than the 2008 team (which is the best defense i've seen in college, Rush was a lock down defender on anyone, Chalmers and Russ Rob were perimeter bulldogs).

But our upside offensively is way higher than the 2008 team. We can score like a Roy team this year if we want to.

Defense and rebounding will win us a title though. We have to get everyone buying in, and I'm sure we will. Self is a master defensive coach.

I am stoked out of my mind for this season. Very hard to keep grounded.

I am blown away by how good they look so early. I thought they played excellent defense for so early in the year. Just wait until the Big12 season starts up, and everyone's roles are established. I expect the defense to be suffocating. Thank god for this team, after the chiefs cratering and the KU football letdown, I needed something to get excited about.
