Perhaps I missed previous posts on the big fight.
Surely there are at least a few Boxing fans here at CP?

Who you got in this one?
Should be one hell of a fight.

Cotto's a bigger puncher than Manny's used to.
I think that could pose some serious problems if Pacquiao stalks him.

But then again... Manny's got hand speed that ought to frustrate Cotto.
If they mix it up it often in this fight it'll be something to behold!

I'm gonna ride with Manny this time around though...
Manny's got faster hands and doesn't need to square up to throw big punches. Cotto's in for a tough one.

Yes, Pacquiao is better than Roy in his prime. Pacquiao has fought outstanding opponents several times. The same can't be said for Roy.

I won't say Pacquiao is the best ever either but he is better than Roy. When compared to Lennox, he is definitely better.

I think money will probably be the biggest obstacle for the fight, but the draw for that one would be otherwordly I'm sure. There will be plenty of bread to break even after considering the splits.

Whether or not he takes the fight he's absolutely one of the greatest fighters of all-time and maybe the best of this era.

40-0.
6 titles in 5 different weight classes.
He's one of the most accurate punchers of this era.
His last 5 wins? Marquez, Hatton, De La Hoya, Judah, Baldomir...
Beat an undefeated Diego Corrales. Beat an undefeated Ricky Hatton.
Put on a clinic against Baldomir. In a fight that looked a lot like the one Pacquiao just had with Cotto.

Come on Mic,

De La Hoya was at the end of his career. If the fight had taken place a few years earlier then it would have been a lot better. Hatton was in the same place Oscar was, an old fighter trying to collect a few more checks while he could. Judah is one of the most over rated fighters ever. He had two or three good fights (and even that's debatable) and then had nothing but garbage for the rest of his career.

The Corrales fight was a good one and he gets credit there and same with Baldomir.

The Marquez fight was the one that made me lose a lot of respect for Floyd. Mayweather hand selected him because he was a much smaller fighter and Floyd knew he could man handle him. I was so glad when Shane Mosley and B-Hop got in the ring and called him out. Hell, even Max Kellerman was busting his balls about it and Floyd just ducked the questions and tried to frame the Marquez fight as some great accomplishment.

IMO, Mayweather is a great fighter. His actions on the selection of his next few fights will determine if he is an all time great or just a great fighter.

Come on Mic,

De La Hoya was at the end of his career. If the fight had taken place a few years earlier then it would have been a lot better.

I'm beginning to question your knowledge of the sport.

EVERY aspect of that fight favored DLH.
Smaller ring size. The gloves of his choice. The venue. A smaller opponent.
He had EVERY advantage and PBF STILL put on a clinic.

Hatton was in the same place Oscar was, an old fighter trying to collect a few more checks while he could.

Hatton had already logged two wins just that year (2007).
He stopped Jose Luis Castillo in just 4 rounds less than 6 months before his fight with PBF. Again, he was undefeated going into that bout.

Can't argue with you here.
