I was hoping you could give me a brief description. Looks pretty cool though. If I get an invite, I'll send one your way

I'm just messing around. It's basically real-time chat/personal forum on steroids. You create a wave of people, hold a conversation, anyone can reply anywhere in the message, add others. It's also live, so people see as you type. Supposed to be pretty cool.

They launched it like Gmail, so only a select few were invited. Some of those people are able to invite others to be a part of their wave.

From Google:

What is a wave?

A wave is equal parts conversation and document. People can communicate and work together with richly formatted text, photos, videos, maps, and more.

A wave is shared. Any participant can reply anywhere in the message, edit the content and add participants at any point in the process. Then playback lets anyone rewind the wave to see who said what and when.

A wave is live. With live transmission as you type, participants on a wave can have faster conversations, see edits and interact with extensions in real-time.

I have 12 invites still. I probably want to save a few for friends, but I'll throw some out.

PM me email addresses.

Oh I knew you were joking. I read about it and watched the video after you sent the link.

Looks like NewPhin has what you're looking for

The initial rollout sucked... it worked for gmail because you could still interact with people outside of gmail. If everyone you know isn't using Wave regularly, it's a pointless app, and I got bored with it after a few hours. What's stupid about it is that I have 90-some gmail invites that I'll never use, but got 8 wave invites... those 8 invites went to 8 people who got bored with it faster than I did because each of them only knew (at most) a few people who were on it.

I noticed they gave me more invites a few weeks ago, but the internet sucks here, so at the moment only half of the wave boxes are coming up and I can't click on anything... and I noticed NewPhin offered, anyway... eh.

I sent all of these out (and yes FMB, I sent your extras as well). Just an FYI, but it usually takes a few days before the invite actually goes through.

FYI: for those of you saying it's boring and that you can't contact anyone, do you know how to use the "with: public" search?

I do agree that it's a little overhyped, and my main issue with it is that it's too slow for me to use. That being said, as plugins and apps get developed more, I can see it becoming much more robust and useful.

Slamming Google Wave now is like calling your new nose tackle you drafted a bust after one game.

Since it doesn't really require it's own thread, does anyone have a google voice invitation they can throw my way for my paltry sum of casino cash?

Go here and request an invite. Shouldn't take you long to get a response from google.
