Funny, I've had an account forever, and haven't used it really for a few years. Was just this minute looking at the new tools they opened up and going through the steps to update my profile and send out a bunch of invites.

I'm pretty sure my first effort will be to invite people to various events that I host.

It's good. My local Chamber uses it pretty extensively so that's helpful. It's also good staying in touch with the dozens of friends I've encountered through my many stages of life.

It's a site I wish I had more time for... I like the answers section, and really wish I had more time to use it. I think it would be a great way to get your name out there if you're looking to help others in your field.

I've gotten a few messages from head hunters, but other than that, it's a professional facebook at the moment.

I am.

It's a useful tool for me to network with current and former bus associates. It's also great for linking with common people in your field that you do not know, but would be helpful to know.

Yeah, been on there a few years. Got an email from an old Sprint guy I use to work with the other day.

Get some recruiters sending me emails about jobs that I have no interest in is about the only downside I've seen.

I just started using it.....I had avoided it thus far, but several of my peers are on it and speak highly of it. Just wanted to get a feel for how many people here use it also.

I found it very useful for interviews. Especially informational ones. Find out the decision maker, then find a guy who knows a guy who knows that decision maker. You'll be surprised at how many people in your network are only 1 or 2 networks away from a person who has the power to get you a job.

I'm on it but haven't really done much. I must say, though, that it seems like a much better tool for businesspeople than other stuff like Twitter. I really should use it more.

4 out of my last 5 jobs I've been recuited for by head hunters.

I've talked to several, and almost interviewed through them. I have ended up not going through the head hunter and looked at local or internet jobs available pages and probably found the business they were working for. I think it helps in negotiating a higher salary as they don't have to pay the commission.

So, they are calling and emailing me while I'm still employed at one place to go work somewhere else. But if I was without a job, you bet I'd be applying to every job instead of waiting on some recruiters call.
