Is leading the NFL for most successful makes from 50+ yards. He is 3/3 and he's signed not long ago, playing only three games with the Bucs.

This came from wikipedia.

Barth tied an NFL record held by three other kickers when he made three field goals of 50 yards or more against the Miami Dolphins on November 15, 2009; the kicks were from 51, 50 and 54 yards. The record is shared with Morten Andersen, Neil Rackers and Kris Brown.

He did?
He hit something like 83% of his FG's here.

He didnt suck here, i just dont think they liked his kick offs. They were not very deep.

We got Succop though, so no matter how Barth turns out, our kicker is really good.

His kickoffs would go to the 10 yard line and how many Fg's did he make from more then 40 yards? Plus he totally wiffed on the Field Goal vs San Diego.

Nm he was 1/2 from 40+. Which begs the question why didn't he kicked more from that distance? Probably because he didn't have a strong leg.

I LOVE Ryan Succop and I'm happy with him, but...

Barth had longer kickoffs last year, on average, than Succop does this year.
In fact, Barth's kickoffs this year are better as well.

His kickoffs were, on average, longer than Succop's kicks.
And thus far this season... He's kicking the ball significantly further on average.

His kickoffs were awful, no doubt. But in terms of field goals, he only had one game in which he missed kicks. He missed his only two field goals in that game against the Chargers.

Can't complain. Succop has been great, and all we gave for him was the very last pick in the draft.

Barth missed a FG for Tampa Bay a couple of weeks ago while I was watching Freeman get a shot at QB. It wasn't a long kick either.

Has he ever recovered his own onside kick?

Hmmm. I wonder if kicking in Tampa Bay helps too. Arrowhead is a tricky stadium to kick in. Reguardless i've watched both play it seems like Succop has the stronger leg? According to scouting reports anyway.

Maybe Barth should be worrying about getting tapped for the piss test, too?

I don't doubt that.

Just wanted to bring some perspective to the discussion.

I'm happy with Succop.
Glad he's getting his due around here now.
Back in April many CP posters were suggesting he were a throwaway.

I like Succop, but I also really liked Barth.

All this means is that the one good decision that Haioli made this offseason (Succop) is mitigated by the fact that they already had a viable young NFL kicker already on thei roster and they cut him loose.

So if Succop is worth 50 cents and Barth is worth 40, Pioli gets a net benefit of only 10 cents.

It's a damn good thing Succop is a good kicker because Barth never should've been let go.

Somewhere Justin Medlock is waiting on tables at Applebee's and saying to himself over and over, "One kick. I got to make one kick."

Nice thought, but he's kicking in the CFL.
