ESPN's web site is reporting that Charlie Batch has a wrist injury that will require surgery. He may be out for up to six weeks.

With Big Ben waiting for his evaluation for concussion, Pittsburgh could be down to their third string QB for next weeks game.

I hate to see players get injured, but fuck the Steelers. I can't stand them.

With Charlie Batch expected to miss six weeks of action and Ben Roethlisberger's status up in the air, the Steelers need to work on finding quarterback depth.

NFL Network's Jason La Canfora reports the team has begun to make calls, including one to Cleo Lemon. It's uncertain how serious the team's interest level is in Lemon.

Even if Roethlisberger is able to play this week, the team may want another body around to learn the system as insurance. Injured reserve sounds like an option for Batch.

UPDATE: Old buddy Aaron Wilson reports for NFP that Jeff Garcia has also been called by the Steelers. The team is expected to conduct a tryout Tuesday.

How do you injure yourself handing it off twice and throwing it away once?

Exactly. When did Batch get hurt?

We out-physicalled THE physical team.

Love it.

On a side note, unfortunately, teams that play the Steelers usually fall flat on their face the following week due to being beat up.

Hopefully we can buck the trend.

I just read that Steelers OG Kemoeatu is also out for a sprained MCL.

Makes me wonder if WE have more injuries than just Kolby Smith.

We may be competitive for 3 Qtrs.... though I said that about Squeelers... Maybe there is something to "reverse mojo".

Did anybody ever find out how this happened? Batch was only in for one series.

I vaguely recall a running play where it looked like the RB took both the ball, and Batch's hand with him briefly.

I think it was the 3rd down play where Belcher stopped Moore short.

Too bad we can't swing a trade and send Brodie to Steel City.

Would you rather....

Beat the Steelers and guarantee the Broncos a playoff spot.

or

Lose to the Steelers and guarantee the Broncos miss the playoffs?

This.

And we don't need the Steelers to accomplish it...:)

Brodie has a better arm and nothing else.

I don't mean that Cassel would get the win in the other areas that make a QB good, I just mean that Brodie doesn't possess any of them...

That's the world we live in.

It's not perfect, true, but it brings a smile...:)

I'd rather beat the world champions at home. I was at the game. I'm ecstatic that we won. I wouldn't have it any other way.

I couldn't give two shits about what your team does at this point.

I don't mean that Cassel would get the win in the other areas that make a QB good, I just mean that Brodie doesn't possess any of them...The Chiefs have a 60 + million dollar Kerry Collins 2. IMO, Brodie can be far more than that, and he made it through a lot hard hits in the preseaon/first game.
He is twice the QB that Kerry Collins2 is.

As a guy who's followed Collins through Penn State, Carolina, the 'Nawlins, NY, etc. I can honestly say you have no fucking clue what you're talking about.

If there's any recent comparison it'd be to Jeff George. Collins can make just about any throw. His weaknesses were ego and immaturity.

If anything Brodie is a better comparison to Collins. Brodie has a gun for an arm.

Cassel reminds me of a more mobile Pennington or a Gannon (less arm strength, more decision making and buying time to complete the pass.)

IMO, Brodie can be far more than that, and he made it through a lot hard hits in the preseaon/first game.
He is twice the QB that Kerry Collins2 is.

He hasn't been able to play in as many games in 2 years as Cassel has this year alone...

Houston or Tennessee could easily make the playoffs before Denver. The Donks will be 6-5 on Thursday.
