Seems to me it wasn't THAT long ago that SD didn't fair much better than we are now.

It's certainly true. We just came off a 2 game winning streak, one of those teams being the SB champs, and laid an egg the size of a Volkswagon. Reality bites, but it is what it is. I still think we get 2 more wins somehow this season.
