A great friend of mine's father has a theory about this restaurant.

Mostly verbatim: "I just can't eat there. The thought of it just creates this image of the driest meal in the world. I can imagine ordering a nice dinner, and being served a plate-sized napkin with an empty mug."

This wore down the novelty of the chain for me, and the only thing I ever really liked were their onion rings.

I haven't been to a CB in years. We used to stop there for breakfast every time we went to Missouri it seems like. I miss it. My memory is that their breakfasts were soooo much better than Denny's or IHOP, but it's probably just my memory making something seem better than it actually was at the time. Sort of like when we "got to go" to McDonalds when we went to the Jehovah's Witnesses district assembly in Aberdeen, Scotland. It was a big damn deal. MCDONALDS!!!! The fancy American hamburger place. So much better than Wimpy's, the Scottish knockoff.

Their lunch is legit, lot's of haters in the crowd, always runnin' up on a wigga, but yeah, it's DEFINITELY country-style, but very well prepared for the type of cooking it is. Their meats and gravy are really pretty well done.

Their biscuits and gravy stand out in my mind fo sho.

By the way, you should know that you eating at a cracker barrel impugns your metrosexuality. Ten demerits. Purchase an outfit consisting solely of Christian Dior clothing items or attend an upscale mixer for professional singles and reject drunk women all night to repent. Bonus points if you drag one of the rejectees out at the last minute and take her home.

look, it's not a sensation, or a revolutionary breakthrough, but, it's fairly legit country-styled fare, much better than Waffle House, and the Waffle Houses in Georgia aren't 40 yrs old, like they are in Missouri. no, all Dennys have roaches, it's part of their franchise-pkge. The Waffle House hold clean standards which exceed most person's residents (at least all of them not located on 'The Outer-Road' in Blue Springs. They're a very successful chain, here in the A-town. They put out a few items that are above average, but, nothing is really bad @ the WH, plus, no 'holding ovens' and they only use the steam-table for gravy, grits. But, with that being said, CB's food is far better than that of the Waffle-House.

Wafflehouse is shit. I hate it. I don't like fucking hashbrowns that much.

As far as breakfast food goes, I don't know that there are any good chains. We had a Shoney's here in St. Joe once. I remember it fondly. Of course, I was like 8 when they left town. I've ate breakfast at Bob Evans a couple of times and it doesn't completely suck.

I'd rather eat a bottle of ketchup at Cracker Barrel than anything at Waffle House.

take a date?

MY GOD MAN you live IN the SOUL/COMFORT FOOD mecca of the world, its called The South.
You mean to tell me you cant find a mom & pop place that serves it up 'country style'?

I'm glad that you asked th^t. Yes, that is correct and most CP'ers in Atlanta will testify. Atlanta has the fastfood rests, the Corporate sit-downs (TGIF, Applebees, etc) and then it goes to Fine-dining. It's sad, but I've been saying it since 1992, when I moved here. Atlanta LACKS the mom-n-pops places and the 'hole in the wall' restaurants w/ outstanding food and always has. KC is MUCH better for those, hell, even North Carolina is.

I don't get it. This place IS waffle house, just in a different building scheme.

:spock: I take it you've either never eaten in a WH or you've never eaten in a CB (or maybe both). They're nothing alike except that they both serve food.

The food tastes like denim and you're pushing the little man down with one hand and pushing big business up with the other. FOOD IS IMPORTANT/CP

You dont road trip? itd be worth it to me to travel 45 min each way to have a sitdown at a non-cookie cutter type eatry.

To be honest we dont eat out much. I cook the majority of the meals for my clan. I love cookin. Learned how from grandma, grandpa, mom, & dad.

The funniest thing in the world is eating at wafflehouse when the waitress/waiter doesn't stand on the special colored tile to call back their order. The cooks get PISSED.

Sounds like someone who would love the bacon log that was posted on here in the summer.

Also sounds like someone who is trying really hard to get their cholesterol to a Guinness book of world records level

Meh...I figure if I eat one of their delicious old, brown strawberries it will offset the nastiness going into my system. It's a give-take situation.
