Speculation is that NE may try to deal him after this year. He's currently 32 years old. Should Pioli tap the pipeline this offseason? See below for Thomas' current contract with NE. [Remember that the Chiefs would be off the hook for the prorated signing bonus. So they'd have him at $4.9M for next year. A lot of $$$ for a guy at the end of his career.]

3/3/2007: Signed a five-year, $35.04 million contract. The deal included a $12 million signing bonus and an $8 million option bonus in the second year. 2009: $1.9 million, 2010: $4.9 million, 2011: $5.9 million, 2012: Free Agent.

Cap charges: $6.4 million (2009), $9.4 million (2010), $10.4 million (2011).

Talk amongst yourselves.

Why exactly would we want a 33 year old has-been that has been a healthy scratch because of attitude?

The list of guys who've played next to Ray Lewis, and then gone on to riches and failure, is getting pretty long.

He's 33? We don't need a youth movement around these parts./Mike Vrabel

All because he talked shit about being sent home? They don't fuck around in NE. Don't expect Pioli to jump in the fray if it involves this "troublemaker."

"He's too old, I'm 100% behind the youth movemnet, even if I have to sit through a couple of 4-12 seasons"

"We're losing too many games, Pioli and Haley should be fired and start all over again."

"We're losing too many games, Pioli and Haley should be fired and start all over again."Yeah, these are correct. Most posters ARE behind a youth movement.

How is trading for a 27-year-old never-was QB and a LB who was living when the dinosaurs roamed the earth part of a youth movement? We wasted a good draft pick on both those losers. The worst part is they are both perceived as the cornerstones of this franchise. Cornerstones are supposed to be amazing players. They're both mediocre as fuck.

Calling Vrabel mediocre is kind. The dude is almost as slow as Hali and has no quicks at all. I hope he's gone next year because watching him play is painful.

Mark Castle reminds me of old Salieri in the movie Amadeus. This will be Cassel in 30 years:

Vrabel was the best linebacker on the team until he was hurt, and by a fairly wide margin.

But, unfortunately, while wisdom comes with age, so does breaking down.

Anyway, that's moot for this discussion. Thomas would be a bad pickup I think.

He probably won't be the only Patriot that was be hitting FA in 2010. Hearing more and more word that there's a good chance Matt Light will also be released.

Watching the games. You should try it sometime, the stat sheet doesn't say everything.
