Tell the people you care about what they mean to you. I know this sounds all soft and sentimental, but my grandmother passed away three days after Christmas last year and I didn't call her or send her a card that year and I felt like crap for being too self-involved.
The flip side to that is you never know when you might pass away and you don't want your loved ones feeling the same grief.
P.S. - On a much happier note, I am finally done at Emporia State University and student teach in KC in spring!
