Report: Skins to hire Shanny in next few days

The Washington Post reports that the Redskins will name Mike Shanahan their new head coach "in the next few days."
The Post also reports that Jim Zorn's firing will be made official "early this week." The Redskins have to satisfy the Rooney Rule again after firing Zorn, however, so they'll need to line up an interview with a minority head coaching "candidate" as a formality. Interestingly, the Post also reports that Shanahan is "eager to draft and raise" a young quarterback. The Skins have been heavily linked to Oklahoma QB Sam Bradford since early in the college year. Should be interesting... definitely the best HC option they've had in a while and Danny spends money. Can it work? I dunno.

Shanahan is trash, McGenious led teams can have a bigger collapse than Shanahan led teams./knowmo

This is what sucks about the offseason are these ridiculous rumors. No team is stupid enough to draft Sam Bradford in the 1st round.

It'll cost them a first and a third.

If the trade happens with the Redskins Denver would have two top 10 picks in the most talented draft in years.

What is wrong with drafting a future starting CB when you have the oldest secondary in the NFL?

There is no way that a team will give up a R1 pick in the top 15-20 (IMO) for any WR. So, if any DEN fan has dreams of that... it won't happen.

Why the hell wouldn't a team trade a high draft pick for a 26 year old two time Pro Bowl receiver? When you draft WR's that is exactly what you are hoping to get.

Wonder if Shanny will trade Portis off again.

First, we're talking about a WR with a history that isn't screaming "I'm the guy you mortage your future with (draft picks) and dump $70M dollars on"...

Second, I just don't see Shanahan making that deal right now. There are other need areas for that team and that offense... I like Marshall, but his off the field track record isn't great and isn't likely what they need right now.

Not sure I get where you are going... despite all the insanity, 2009 was his best year as a pro... better than the Shanny years. Over 100 rec's again (102, 104, 101 the last 3 seasons). Yardage = 1,325 / 1,265 / 1,120 the last 3 years and while his YPC has dropped each year... 13.0 / 12.2 / 11.1 ... his TDs have improved - 7 / 6 / 10.

All in all, the guy has had a great run... we'll see what happens.

Where I'm going is,IMO he would have had an even better year if McDipshit wasn't such a douche bag.Marshall has been pissed at him all year and you had to know this was coming at some point.

Enh, I'm sure things haven't been all warm and fuzzy... but, the numbers for 2009 weren't that much different from 07-08... I doubt they'd be too terribly different.

Don't get me wrong... I've questioned McD a lot this year... I think he's done an 'ok' job, I'm not impressed with his play calling much - I just haven't seen anything special. Orton wasn't as bad as Plummer when he arrived in Denver, and I think Shanahan got more out of Plummer than McD has out of Orton so far... granted, I haven't cursed Orton after a game like I did Plummer... so it has it's give and take.

McD just hasn't had the "wow factor" for me...

could be a disaster ... i think Shannahan proved in Denver that he shouldn't be Head Coach and GM-ish.

Snyder has proven that he shouldn't be owner and GM-ish.

So we have two guys who can't handle being GM

so who is going to keep a leash on these guys?
