Just think of it this way. Its like an earthquake that only happens in a tiny part of the city. Its really destructive where it hits, but you get warned it may happen.

This makes me wonder if being a meteorologist in SD, LA or Phoenix would be a good job or not. You are almost always right, but it wouldn't be very exciting.

This picture was taken today, yesterday it was much worse. The funny thing is that Volvo was stuck in that Water yesterday, and there was a break in the weather before it started raining again at about 10:00 am. Instead of getting her car towed while there was no water, she didn't and now its back in the water.

Where is that?

Buck is making a big deal about this because this is not typical SD weather. The city has major issues when faced with this kind of flooding.

Our soil does not absorb well. Rains like this cause mud slides all over the county. Sometimes, houses slide with it. We get broken water mains all over the county. Our streets don't dispell water well and our freeways pool water like crazy.

I understand you mid-westerners laugh, but for some folks out here in SD, this "little bit of rain" causes some major issues.

Actually, most of California is a beautiful state. San Diego is a nice area, too, as is San Fran. And I like Disneyland.

Even Los Angeles, while I despise it, if it fell off the map it would take most of our movie stars and TV industry with it. So, much like an anus, it's an unlikable but useful part of the whole organism.

Laugh away. Just understand, we are not looking for sympathy. Were just not used to this kinda weather so we are talking about it. SD has as close to perfect weather as you can get so this is major issues for us. Kind of like if you were to start having earthquake quite frequently. To us its like ehhh. One year it rains a lot, the next year its just normal all year, then the next year there is a huge fire, then the next couple years there is nothing, then it rains a lot again.

Rinse, repeat.

I understand you mid-westerners laugh, but for some folks out here in SD, this "little bit of rain" causes some major issues.

wah, wah, waaaaaaah!!! you get sunny and 75 degrees 90% of the time. deal with it.

That is true, but when rains come like this (which may occur frequently in the mid-west) it causes major problems all over the county. Floods, sinkholes in the road (big sinkholes), houses swept away by mudslides...

Our soil and roads, just dont absorb water well. The ground gets saturated so fast, the water cannot absorb and the water just pools.

Bet a lot of houses are going to have some type of water damage after this. Always happens.
