So we have a jukebox where I bartend....

I was doubling as bartender/server tonight since we were closing up and I was last one on...

Bar is pretty full and the tables are all taken...

I notice a couple (probably 20, 21 years old) hitting up the jukebox...which was weird since they had just paid and I assumed they were on their way out...

Anyways...they are there for 5 minutes or so and then they start laughing and literally sprint out...right as they leave Rick Astley comes on...

I literally laughed my ass off...full bar and I didn't hit "play next" because I thought it was super clever.

:D Definitely not. I went to too many bars when I was 19 to do a hypocritical thing like that. I just found it funny that he said that. They were probably both of age too. He was just throwing an age range out there without thinking I bet.

That's all nice and good until the undercover kid comes in trying to buy. And then you do and the police bust you. It's not entrapment, either.

And then you're stuck with a large fine and so is your employer. And they get PISSED.

I know what I'm doing...

I card when I'm suspicious...I've seen several people get the $300 fine and get fired...but I'm not about to card 30 year olds...

If they pass my eye test, I don't card.

and when I do card I look at the ID for about 0.5 a second...if someone is ballsy enough to use a fake they deserve a beer

I knew a guy who worked the door for a bar a few years ago and said maryland ids were the popular fake id. He would ask "Whats the capitol of maryland?"
kid " um aaah um" Friend " No beer for you" or who the Governor was.
But I live in a college town so they are prob way more strict about enforcement here than in chicago. They had underage undercover kids going to places all the time. Hell they do it to stores here for cigarettes let alone bars.

I was bopping along, picking up some cat food, TP, a sammich, some Coke Zero. Suddenly, the store muzak....
