View Full Version : Life Concealed Carry Question

While viewing Frazod's Ammo thread a question came to mind that I was curious about.

For those of you that have a concealed carry permit do you carry your weapon in general public places such as walmart, grocery store, McDonalds ?

I know most people of course carry in their vehicles but I have always carried mine with me every place I go, because I know I may only need it once in my life but don't know when that once might be. I take my little girl to a Chinese restaurant every friday after school and there are always about 10 or 12 Somolian immigrants that come in . They speak no english and dress in Somolian combat camo / american hip hop style clothing. Call it profiling if you want but they really make me a little nervous. I've carried a Kimber .45 for the last few years and just bought the Kimber "Ultra carry II" 45 which is more compact.

Do any of you carry everywhere or is it just me ?

How do you carry ? Shoulder holster, under belt, boot ? I normally carried my last Kimber in my belt under a jacket, my new Kimber will easilt fit in my coat pocket.

I didn't for years, then I figured if the thugs, dealers and punks are standing or walking right next to me with guns, how am I to protect me and my family if something were to happen. So I carry everywhere that I can.

Yep, My new Kimber only has a 7 shot clip but the mags from the other Kimber fit it too which are 8 shot clips. I normally carry two extra mags in my pocket.

I can't carry in my work truck because of company policy. I do carry everywhere else, except the bar or any place I might be boozing (rodeos, concerts, etc...).

I used to have an inside the pants holster, but got too fat to use it. Now I carry in the small of my back.

Right now I carry the Ruger P95 with a 10 round clip and 1 extra cause it's light, and fast, but after all the talking in the other thread,I'm seriously considering the Ruger P90/.45.

My old company encouraged it. We fiber spliced/copper spliced from 11:00pm to 7:00am in some pretty seedy places. That's how I originally came to getting my CCW permit.

This company didn't make this policy until two years ago. No reason was given why. It's a great job so I oblige.

I've never seen the reason to. In my mind when the time finally comes that I would need to use it, it will be too late.

Well in the beginning, firearms were our protection from religious persecution, enemies, and the government. That belief alone is reason enough for me to make sure everyone in my family is protected by every right the constitution allows.

I'm a "better to have it and not need it, than to not have it and need it" kinda person. To me, it's no different than carrying my wallet anymore and very few people know I'm armed. I also always have a compass, lighter, and small knife in every coat.

I'm not against it by any means. I just think it would cause me more harm than good personally. I'd be the one to shoot myself in the leg one day.

A good hand gun course or carry conceal course helps against that. And only pull it out when absolutely needed. Don't pull it out in the bar to show your football team mates.

They should just put a big sign out in front of those places informing the unsavory element that it is a "Fee Kill Zone".

My last company had the same policy. I ALWAYS took it on the road with me in spite of that. The only way I would ever pull it, is to use it in a life or death situation. I figured I could easily find a new job, but I'm not convinced I could come back from the dead.

Well in all honesty,if I can't get my message across in 10 rounds,I prob shouldn't have drawn the gun in the first place.

That's legal ?

Yes. Nevada is an "Open Carry State". Keep in mind this:

Laws are there to tell you what you CANNOT do. So unless there is a law (local, state, federal) that says specifically that you cannot do something, then it is legal.

So in Nevada, there are laws that say concealed carry is illegal without a permit. There are then laws that restrict where you can carry a weapon (concealed or open). Now there are some local ordinances on the books in some cities/counties in Nevada that forbid open carry. However, a few years ago the state passed a pre-emption law that made it so that only the state had the power to mandate the carry and transportation of firearms.

So in short, it isnt illegal in Nevada to Open Carry, therefore it is legal.

About the only place I am always carrying is fishing out at the Neosho River, just because you never know what kinda methed up freak is going to show up out there. Otherwise I'm not typically walking around town with it.

I'm a big fan of the .45 ACP round, it's my choice for self, home, family defense.

I've got a p95 and a p345, the 345 is a whole lot closer to the size of your p95, lots smaller than the p90. The 90 is a tough bird, I'll grant and if you're open-carrying it's no big deal, but if you're thinking of concealed carry at all...I'd look that p345 over before you make up your mind. It's about the size of a Colt commander. Which isn't a bad thing at all.

I'm to the point I feel naked with out. I carry every were except the places that its illeagle, then have a lock box in the car and its only off for that time.

I carry a glock 10 mm on my side a ruger lcp 380 on my ankle as a back up and a extra clip for the 10 mm.

If you get use to not carring all the time you are not going to have it when you need it. I hope never to use it but if I have to I will have it.
