If it's prestigious, I want one.
I had a regular card, but then I got a gold one. And then they introduced the platinum, and then the clear one, and then after that the iridium and then the cobalt. But I don't see how they can come up with a more exclusive one than black.

I'm holding out for the Visa Red card. That seems like an honest color for a credit card.

Does anyone have this card? I have a few questions.
I was offered one last year but on the advice of mmmdog (one of our fine forum members who works in the credit industry), I didn't move forward. I have the Amex "Plum" card, which he said has all the benefits without the $500 dollar annual fee.
I was just wondering if it was true that only 1% of people get preapproved. I know I have good credit but I only make like 32k a year so I don't get why I got preapproved.

You got approved for a black card? Scan the letter.
As I understand it Black cardholders are selected by Visa and spend at least 50k per year on their Visa.

the perks of the card make up for the fees for those that use them. The concierge service is supposedly pretty amazing.

Eh, it's nothing compared to the AmEx Centurion card. You should go for that one instead.
Ill upload pics in a minute.

Dunno dude. I know that they use the words "pre-qualified" pretty loosely on those outgoing mailings. You may be pre-qualified to apply, but that doesn't mean you're actually pre-qualified to actually get the card.

The Centurion card I alluded to earlier has a $2500 annual fee and a $5000 initiation fee.

I read about that one. I might do it if I can figure out a way to expense that silly fee.

For that kind of money I'd better be wiping my ass with gold flaked toilet paper.

If you (speaking generally) are loaded and travel a lot, it's got a ton of killer perks. Buy 1 get 1 airline tickets (for spouses and the like), buy 1 get 1 hotel rooms, and a ton of personal concierge services. A couple of international first-class flights would pay for that immediately.
Of course, you have to spend $250k on your AmEx card in a year for them to offer it to you, so that's a little tough for a lot of people.

Yeah, the travel perks caught my eye. I don't travel internationally much, but if I did, it certainly would be tempting.

If you know how to work it, it's not really that big a deal. Just get a half dozen of them and take out a cash advance on one to make the payment on another.
