View Full Version : Chiefs Amazing first day of free agency for Clark's Chiefs

FloridaMan88

Have the Chiefs even scheduled a free agent visit yet?

Talk about a boring, lifeless franchise.

Yes I'm sure we'll hear all the Clark Hunt defenders rush to his defense... the "no need to panic it is only the first day of free agency, the Chiefs will be active later in free agency" crowd will be out in full force to defend their Dear Leader.

Let's just save the suspense and accept the fact the Chiefs will do nothing in free agency, draft a shitty draft class that will have virtually zero impact next season, lose all of their preseason games and win 4-5 games next year.

Along the way we'll get a few puff piece articles from the KC Star about how the Chiefs coaching staff shares a close bond, how Todd Haley will be a vastly improved head coach next year, blah blah blah.

This is the Chiefs way under Clark Hunt... the same shit over and over again.

Hard to disagree with you at this point. The Chiefs brass will need to have the draft of the century for fans not to completely turn on the franchise if it hasn't happened already.

The problem now is that most of the free agents that would have come in and both filled a need and make a big impact are gone, and anyone that is drafted this year, won't have a big impact for another 2-3 years...It's tough to snare FA's when your a botto

Dude....for a majority of the fans it doesn't matter if the Chiefs have a good draft. The casual true fan will blindly accept it as Pioli knowing what he's doing and then pay out the ass for season tickets to go watch 6 wins next year.

Maybe Clark Hunt should try flying an airplane sometime and he'll be lucky enough to sit next to an adult film star who will in turn schmooze her way into talking all the over-aged, washed-up veterans to sign a FA contract with us. For her reward, she'll get front-row seats to the NIT tournament to watch MU lose to Tosh.O University.

This is the Chiefs way under Clark Hunt... the same shit over and over again.

Not saying he didnt have a lot of say prior to Lamar's death, but I think it's a little unfair to make such a claim in only three seasons. Clark inherited a sinking ship of a franchise that was/still is in need of a lot of things before they can become legitimate contenders. Two or three star free agents, and the large contracts that come with them, aren't the way to right this ship. Now, after another year or two of high draft picks that should become the foundation for a contending team (that is if Pioli & Co. are worth a damn in talent evaluation) and then he still doesnt go out and try to sign two or three big-names to complete the "missing links," then by all means, flame away on Clark.

The reality is that it will do little good to overspend in free agency the year before a lock out. To do so would be poor use of resources. Why pay a huge bonus to a guy who may be just sitting in 2011.

I know this isn't what any of the fans want to hear, but the reality is that the Chiefs are a business, and are well away from a Super Bowl. Why blow the money this year? If a player ends up sitting a year of a huge contract.... then, the signing bonus was totally wasted.

I wouldn't mind seeing the Chiefs sign some guys, but I own a business, and I understand the concept of a budget.

What a impact, think how many more ints flowers whould have with Allen on D.How many times did you count to 3 seconds and the opposing quarterback scrambles or bides time and passes over our Lbs and our safteys are trailing in some manner with out Allen on D. What was the impact of Cassel? He did have a seat and let Brodie prove he may be a good backup.
Dont get me wrong I'm a fan but with the economy and work the last thing I wanna do on usually my only day off is watch my team make dumbass plays and see inferior talent get their ass handed to them 14 to 12 times a year.
This team needs to wake the f$$$ up and make me watch a game and not get pissed...no matter how they do it. Dont draft another highly ranked rookie and think turnaround.
Clark spend the $ and the fans will be there or watching nfl ticket. If not I think the fanbase could start wearing paper bags. Hell from watching the FA moves Detroit will trade with us next year in the 1st rd to move up!:(:(:(:(:(

I'm beginning to suspect the Hunts of being cheap. With the limited number of draft choices that every team has Free Agency seems to be a great strategy to fill up some holes with stud players. Especially with the money the Chiefs have and have not spent. It's frustrating, but maybe CP and now Pioli haven't have that much freedom from the owners to spend money on good players. But let's see what happens in the next few days. So far two of my favorite FAs (Peppers and Chester Taylor) have been gobbled up by one team. Though I'm not sure how much Peppers could have successfully converted into a 3-4 LB.

you guys know what other teams dont sign a lot of free agents?

Colts
Pittsburgh
Baltimore
Cardinals
Chargers

You know, the other "cheap" teams that went "full retard" and built through the draft.

I'd be fine with ignoring FA if we drafted like those teams.

We don't.

The only team up there that gaffed in the draft as bad as we did was Arizona's Levi Brown pick.

Last year was SOOOOO bad that I don't blame anyone for feeling that way. But I'm with you, I choose to be optimistic until the end of April. This is a deep draft and IMO it will be hard to fuck up the first 4 picks.

Alright just wondering, I only threw up Gronkowski because NE seemed to always have a TE fetish.

I think they're taking an OT or Dan Williams so you can respond to that being the 5th pick however you would.

Sproles was going to be are big F.A., but the chargers F**ked us.

That was a great play. It costs them nothing. There is no cap. I would've done it the second I found out he was meeting with KC.

I still doubt he was coming here. There were several teams reportedly interested.

People are acting as if we were his only option.

I'm pumped about the draft too. But we have a lot more positions to fill than have draft picks. We need to play the FA game too, and I'm not talking about the joke that was our last year's participation.

That would be like saying man the Ravens they can lose Ed Reed but not Kelly Gregg.

During camp he was always asking the names of the players and he got about 7 autographs and all of them were politely asked for by name of the player by him.

He can form tackle better than any defender we have save Flowers as well.

However, I can certainly say from the 2 bits of information I got from 2 separate sources (neither of which know each other), that he was coming here.
