View Full Version : Chiefs A friend texted me with a rumor he'd heard on the radio this morning

He said that they were talking about possibly trading Cassel to the Browns for Quinn. Any truth in that, or do you think he heard it out of context (like he missed the first part of a conversation of "not likely's")? If it were true, what would you think of such a trade? Or has this been talked about already, and I'm posting something that's been talked into the ground?

No clue. He listens to sports radio in the morning, but I don't know which one. I hadn't seen anything about it here, so I figured it was either a joke or not true.

What about Quinn to swap 1st's?

No way we would do it, but it might be in the realm of possiblity.

We'd never get that lucky. Not that I'm a Quinn fan but I'd give Cassel to just about any team and pay half of his salary to purge his SUCk from KC.It would be worth it to start a rebuild job the way you're supposed to.

I hope we don't have interest in trading one very average QB for another.

The Browns may cut Quin lose anyway. If Wies wants him, we can prolly get him w/o giving anything up.

If we are going to throw crazy trades out there, why not trade our #5 for thier #7 and Shaun Rogers?

There is absolutely NO chance that Mike Holmgren released Quinn outright.

He'll be traded.

Okay, perhaps I overstated. My point is that Quinn's value is simply not good at this point. I wouldn't want to give more than a 6th or 7th for him.

Brodie Croyle is fool's gold. He's got a rocket for an arm and makes every throw in the book.... in practice. That, and he's a great guy to have around. Teammates love him, and terrific backup that supports the starter. Nothing not to like...but he just can't stay healthy if he has to play.

If someone like Buffalo really wants him and is willing to give up a high pick, I say do it.

I don't see it ever happening though. Haley LOVES him some Brodie.

Quinn has been more inaccurate than Matt Cassel. The obsession with anyone who has been a first round pick at QB is staggering. I would take a chance on Quinn for a late pick or something, but he in no way is an upgrade over Cassel at this point.

Disagree.

He was a starter at Notre Dame and put up good numbers under Weis. He's always in tip top shape and has a much stronger arm that Cassel. He's also younger.

Quinn has been fucked since the day Cleveland drafted him. He's the classic example of a good QB picked by a bad organization.

He may never be a HOFer but he'll be a much better QB in this league than Matt Cassel's ever dreamed of being, especially if he's reunited with Weis.

I'm not sure if you are just disagreeing with me to disagree with me, or what.

Quinn has been more inaccurate than Cassel thus far. Perhaps it is because he's in a bad situation. I suppose we could make excuses for Cassel as well.

You are right that Quinn is in great shape, but I'm not sure what that has to do with being a successful QB either. Perhaps he does have a stronger arm than Cassel. Since he doesn't do anything but check down though, who knows?

If Weis convinced Pioli to trade for Quinn, I'd back that move for at least two seasons.

The bottom line for me is that I trust Weis until proven otherwise when it comes to QB's.

If re-uniting Quinn with Weis is a good idea due to the success those two had working with each other, wouldn't it be logical to assume that Cassel could actually improve under Weis' tutelage?

He probably could improve, even though he regressed as the team got better last year. But besides that point, Quinn is young, more talented, and has more upside... he also already have better pocket awareness and mechanics... and his ball is more catchable. Quinn can just offer us more for a longer period of time..

He may never be a HOFer but he'll be a much better QB in this league than Matt Cassel's ever dreamed of being, especially if he's reunited with Weis.

In 2008 on a solid team Cassel threw for almost 3700 yards and 21 TDs.

In 2009 on a not-so-solid team Cassel still almost threw for 3000 yards and 16 TDs.

In 2009 on a not-so-solid team Quinn, in 10 games, threw for 1339 yards and 8 TDs. Even if you extrapolate those stats to a full years, it's a whopping 2142 yards and 13 TDs.

Quinn sucks.

Seems a little farfetched to me. Weis is the wild card in this one. What's he think of Quinn and how much influence is he going to have with Pioli/Haley?

I wonder what Crennel would think about getting Quinn, since failing to develop Quinn helped lead to Crennel getting canned. :doh!:

(yes - I know Crennel is the DC, but he should have a little insight into Quinn as a pro)

Well given that it was on the Sports Reporters on the Jock and being referenced by Warpaint there is no way it happens. If it was Art Hains show I would take with a lot more credibility, but not Ned and Scott.
