Only a sohpmore, but the kid is similar to a Tyler Hansbrough that can shoot. Very strong and aggressive, and likely a four year player that will have a huge impact at the college level. He's a four star on Rivals, but I don't even think they rate anybody above a four star until they are juniors. Scout doesn't even have anything but user grades yet, but he's likely a Top 20 kid.

Sounds good. But wow, committing as a sophomore? Kind of strange. At least for KU.

Kid picked KU over offers from Texas, Kentucky, North Carolina, and Oklahoma. My guess he will end up a 5-star in the end. His high school teammate is arguably the top prospect in the 2013 class.

I see him as a Nick Collison/Brad Buckman/Tyler Hansbrough type of player.

Cole Aldrich and Royce Woolridge called and said you were dumb. :D

And yeah, all signs point to this kid being a baller. Now he just needs to convince his best friend and teammate to come to KU as well.

Rumors have said that KU is in on a ton of top recruits for the next few years. Could have a run of some powerful teams coming soon.

In related news, K-State signed JUCO guard Juevol Myles who couldn't originally qualify academically for the Ivy League like school Louisiana Tech. Huge.

Reggie Rankin on Peters (http://theshiver.com/2010/04/reggie-rankin-on-peters/)

http://theshiver.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/2305.gif (http://theshiver.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/2305.gif)ESPN.com Recruiting Coordinator, Reggie Rankin, had the opportunity to watch Zach Peters play at this years Nike NYBL Tournament in Hampton, Virginia. Rankin came away impressed with the versatility Peters showed on the court.

Peters averaged 15.3 points and 9.0 rebounds as a sophomore at Prestonwood.

“Zach is a terrifc early get for the Jayhawks,” he said. “He’s a strong, physical power forward with a tremendous body for someone so young.

“He can score inside through contact while also shooting it comfortably out to 18 feet. He can rebound in and out of his area and has a college body already. He can also defend well in the lane and is not afraid to mix it up down low. “Zach will be perfect for Kansas’ high post offense and screen and roll sets,” Rankin added.

“He’ll be a matchup problem with his ability to hit face-up jumpers. ”He’s got a terrific basketball I.Q., off the charts upside and reminds me physically of Tyler Hansbrough (North Carolina/Indiana Pacers).”

Peters is the first recruit in the 2012 class for head coach Bill Self and his staff.

You really want to begin comparing academic achievement between the programs? My guess is that neither side would be shown in a favorable light.

Shouldn't you be happy with the awesome class Pastner got as opposed to trolling KU threads?

KU just had the Academic All-American NPOTY in Cole Aldrich.

based on that video, the kid seems to already have a good offensive skill-set. I thought with that size (at such a young age) he would be a center, but he's probably better suited for PF. (Of course who knows what he will look like in 2 years)

I liked the quick drop turn and the fact he scored with both hands. Good get for KU and welcome to Peters.

Hey now, be nice to your fellow Jayhawks. I didn't realize those 2 guys were early commits. Sophomore years or junior years?

Aldrich committed in 2005, Woolridge committed in 2008.

And Laz knows I <3 him. Just giving him shit.

I know nothing about this guy, but I'd be any amount of money that it's a white kid.

Nevermind the fact that Collison, Buckman, Hansbrough and Aldrich are all extremely different players -- this kid is similar to them...somehow.

Is he the next Wes Welker?
