I don't see how them saying they will take Berry changes the fact that a team would have to jump us to get him regardless of who they take.
"Berry going to be a Redskin!!" ≠ "the Redskins will strongly consider Eric Berry"

Can we ban this MF?
The Redskins can watch their investment in McNabb go down the drain then. Stephen Heyer blocking Trent Cole, Justin Tuck and DeMarcus Ware? That will be hilarious to watch over a full season.
Dang. I was happy there for a minute.

It would truly be one of the biggest shockers in draft history if they take their 3rd top 6 safety in the last 7 years.

You assholes told me there would be no way he gets drafted at 4.

I was half joking.... actually I'd probably bet they'll end up having a tough decision to make... something weird will go down in the first 10 picks. It always does... this stuff never goes as scripted.

They are saying they will take Berry, even when they don't want him, knowing full well that we will take him a pick later. It's a way to entice those that want Berry. It's called a BLUFF or smokescreen, like I alluded to earlier. The Chiefs won't trade down with Berry sitting, there. I know this, the league knows this, and most on the board, as well.

It still doesn't make sense. Teams know they have to jump KC for Berry regardless of who Washington plans on taking. I don't think they take him either, but that logic doesn't make sense. Either way ateam needs to trade with Washington. Now if a team values Berry it helps out Tampa Bay for teams to think Washington is interested, not Washington.

But if a team wants Berry they need to trade with Washington anyway. No need to manipulate them. Now if you are saying that a team that was thinking about a trade with KC is now force to trade with Washington that makes sense, but if KC was not will to trade the pick they have to talk to the Skins regardless.

Momentum builds for Berry in Washington (http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/category/rumor-mill/)
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on April 22, 2010 1:22 PM ET
The Eagles are reportedly interested in moving up in the draft, possibly to the fifth overall pick.
But would that be high enough to get Deion Sanders buddy Eric Berry?
The Washington Post estimates a "60%" chance the Redskins take Berry, should they stay on at the No. 4 pick. We've heard this opinion suddenly gain momentum in a variety of places Thursday. Funny how that works.
ESPN's Adam Schefter also said Thursday morning the Redskins could have a surprise up their sleeves with the fourth pick. Taking Berry over Trent Williams would qualify.
Like every bit of news that comes out between now and 7:30, it's fair to apply major caution to this one. The Redskins may not like being linked so strongly to Williams, and could be trying to throw reporters off the scent.
If that's the case, it's working.

Yeah...who's going to believe "we are going to take berry...unless you're willing to trade for our pick?" That's an obvious smokescreen to get them to jump the SKINS...not the Chiefs. Tampa would be the team that would get a trade at that point...which makes little sense to me...unless Rat really wants McCoy and is trying to get someone to go after him w/ the Bucs. I doubt any of this happens and that very few trades will be made, if any in the top 10.

It's just one of those guesses that journalists make. Sort of like Gretz's list of who he thinks is on the Chiefs board and the odds that they take him. No real inside info, just basing it off hunches, team needs, and various reports.
If the Post report is all that it is based on, then I wouldn't put too much credence behind one guy's opinion...

I think it's a smokescreen, but has to do with negotiations between Washington and St. Louis for the number one pick. Although why they would name Berry and not Okung as their target, I have no idea. But I think there's a reason the Rams haven't made Bradford official yet, and I think it might be Washington.
