I've been showing up at this place like a bad penny for a few years now. I can't recall seeing the Planet this universally excited after the first round in the draft.
Good for you. You've come a long way since you got out of that abusive relationship your ex called his 5 year plan.

Can we start the season next week please?

Well, it definitely looks good on paper. Whether Berry will be as good as we hope, and whether Tebow will be as bad is yet to be seen. But today's a good start.

Thanks, Mr. vailpass. I believe I speak for all Chiefs fans everywhere when I say, "Boom lacka lacka lacka. Like my momma done tole me."

And may I conclude with best wishes for you and your extraordinary first round selection. The future of your franchise is now clearly in the hands of the Most High which, when you think about it, is right where it belongs.

While this is true, the Broncos took Clady in 2008, who was expected to make a pretty quick difference. This year, they took two projects. While there's no guarantee that 2010 will be a worse year than 2008, the short-term expectations for the guys you got are certainly a lot lower than they were back then.

But yeah, people were probably about this excited over Dorsey back then, and we see how that's worked out.

It bugs me that Dorsey is widely considered a bust. The circumstances aren't nearly his fault, and he doesn't even have 3 years under his belt.

I STILL BELIEVE!!!

I haven't gotten to the "bust" point just yet, but I think you can safely conclude that his value has been lower than the 5th pick at this point.

I think the second we switched to a 3-4 that was a guarantee. Hopefully he can prove me wrong and make the transition, but the odds are against him.

hell, I'm apparently one of a few here on planet earth who believes he was our best defensive player last year (other than maybe flowers). he's a key cog, and could STILL end up as the all-world player he was expected to be.

it'll be difficult to regardless of how good he is due to the fact that he's out of position. however, if anybody can buck the trend and break out, I think he can.

Dorsey and Berry are very different deals ... the way I see it, anyhow.

Defensive linemen typically take time to make the transition to the NFL. Sometimes it requires several years before their contribution is either measurable or meaningful. Plus, in our case, you had the additional issue with the move to the 3/4. Berry, on the other hand, has the potential and, presumably, the ability to have an immediate, positive impact as a rookie. Positionally, the early expectations are very different.

Glenn Dorsey, Branden Albert, Brandon Flowers, Jamaal Charles, Brandon Carr...

All starters. Dorsey is transitioning and showed marked improvement towards the end of his first season at a new position in a new scheme. WTH dude?

Well, it's a darn fascinating pick on many levels. That's for sure.

It will be interesting to see if and/or how Tebow develops. I am looking forward to the first game when our new, bloodthirsty, kick-your-face-in defense lines up against Team Tebow. I predict that prayers will be needed.

not to mention, cottom is our starting TE and it wouldn't shock me if morgan was starting opposite berry. that's six definite starters and a maybe. that draft was fucking GOLDEN

I've heard Morgan wasn't a coach favorite last year. But maybe that'll change with Romeo heading up the defense.

Also, I'm doubtful about Cottom due to the neck injury. Has anyone heard anything in that regard?

it's kinda hard to call a d-lineman a bust until after their third season. in college, all the top guys are used to just throwing their weight around and using sloppy technique to just dominate (normally overclassed) o-lineman. they can't do that in the nfl. they have to learn technique, more than one pass-rushing move, and sometimes how to even line up properly.

and that's all if they only have one d-line coach/defensive coordinator combination and aren't misused/change defenses each of your first two years in the league.

hell, that dorsey was as good as he was last year was a minor miracle.

as much as I wanted sanchez with that pick (hell, or even crabtree), I still hold out hope that he'll be at least solid (fuck, maybe even good to great) under crennel. shit, at least don't remind us of ryan sims. that's all I ask.

"Hello"

I've been alone with you
Inside my mind
And in my dreams I've kissed your lips
A thousand times
I sometimes see you
Pass outside my door
Hello!
Is it me you're looking for?
I can see it in your eyes
I can see it in your smile
You're all I've ever wanted
And my arms are open wide
'cause you know just what to say
And you know just what to do
And I want to tell you so much
I love you

I long to see the sunlight in your hair
And tell you time and time again
How much I care
Sometimes I feel my heart will overflow
Hello!
I've just got to let you know
'cause I wonder where you are
And I wonder what you do
Are you somewhere feeling lonely?
Or is someone loving you?
Tell me how to win your heart
For I haven't got a clue
But let me start by saying I love you

Thx ! The quicker McKid turns Tebow into an H-back(ala Cooley/D Clark) the more successful your O will be in the future. But something tells me that McNapoleon feels he has the "Laying on of Hands" gift that will make Tebow into the next Tom Brady.

Ultimately, our hopes are linked inextricably to our new coordinators. Perhaps Romeo (knock on Tebow's noggin) has the knowledge and experience to maximize the current skill sets of guys like Dorsey and Jackson, don't you think? Heck, they might even improve under his guidance.

one would hope. funny, that's all we have left anymore. I won't launch into a spiel about how it's technically been over half of my life since we got a playoff win, or that my freaking dad (who is 53) was 13 years old (less than half my current age) when we won the super bowl. or how utterly fucking depressing it is being a chiefs fan.

lest I get started, I agree. I'd think crennel can maximize the return on our investment.

Thanks for asking! I am with the new OC, I want the QB!!!

If not, get the guy that helped him, Tate. Then they need help, and lots of it at line backer. Of course, none of that matters if they don't get a nose tackle.

That being said, you have to respect what Denver is trying to do, but I hope it fails miserably. :D
