we do have a pretty easy schedule and hopefully berry will create a ton of turnovers so he can cover up some mistakes.

We won three games last year with a harder schedule, with two shitty coordinators, learning two new schemes, and without Eric Berry. Oh and we have Jamal Charles starting this year.. hes being backed up by Thomas Jones.. and don't forget another huge playmaker in DEXTER MCFUCKING CLUSTER!

and god forbid if the chiefs ever got to be good, what the hell would half of the ppl on here do with themselves. we have a lot of things to be hopeful for, mainly that berry guy. he could change things around by himself and cover up a lot of the mistakes the rest of the team makes. turnovers create huge momentum, and he has the ability to make that shit happen

We kinda you know, lost to them at home this past year when their QB threw for like 50 yards.

Cleveland is the one team I can think of off the top of my head that might be worse off than the Chiefs.

They have Josh Cribbs and...what else?

Ill say this, if Cassel plays up to his contract status, then the Chiefs would have an outside chance at getting there.

He would need to become a 65%+ passer with 27-30 TDs and 13 int's or so....i dont see that happening.

I mean seriously, even the thought of saying something positive about the Chiefs makes some of you guys grind your teeth. Sometimes, thinking positive is the way to go ;)

I'm excited to see what Crennel and Pleasant can do with Dorsey, Smith, and Jackson. Smith has already produced big under Crennel before.. and he will do it again.

Normally i am a glass half full kind of guy, willing to give people, teams the benefit of doubt. Say they are getting paid for this shit to evaluate talent, needs, etc.. Saying they can't get any worse, they will have a winning season next year, they could make the playoffs if this happens (like a meteor hitting SD stadium while they are playing Oakland).

Not this time. they fucked up big time in this draft. As most people have said over the course of the past two days, they passed on needs to take 'luxuries'. why the hell do we need to draft 3 DBs after we take Berry! I have no problem with not taking Clausen. I kind of wanted him, but considering he slid..other teams must have shared KC's doubts. Fine. I can even see why teams would pass on Kindle and/or Cody due to injury weight concerns. I live in Baltimore, people are torn 50-50 on the picks because they don't know if Kindle will even play. They are already pissed that Cody won't report to camp in shape or wont be a full time contributor. (Yea, it even happens with good teams' fans bitching about every move). Maybe the 2 guys we took in the 2nd round will turn out fine. or better, i have read what people have been nice enough to post: videos write ups, etc. Great, but it still doesnt solve the fact that we will get ass-raped the entire season.

We have NO pass rush, NO run defense. We passed on opportunities to address these needs and for what?! A fucking TE! A nickelback! Another S!! Christ why not draft a punter to spell Colquitt! Hell, draft Jenny Craig to help Romeo, Weis and the rest of our speed skaters lose weight to be up to Haley's 'standards'

Our schedule should have allowed us with a good draft to be competitive. I don't see how we can be.. I am just really disappointed...thanks Scott for fucking up our chance to move out of last place

Im not saying that we WILL make the playoffs, but seriously, how many games did Mike Brown/Goff/LJ/Leggett/Niswanger lose for us last year when we have taken those positions and added Berry/Asamough/Jones/Arenas/Weigman.

That is taking 5 huge weaknesses and adding very good players in their place.

If Cassel plays like a real quarterback, we CAN make the playoffs but if we dont find a way to sign a NT (Henderson, Im looking at you) and a couple linebackers we will get embarrassed once there if we find a way to get there in the first place.

This fanbase needs a playoff victory more than prisoner being released after 20 year sentence needs to get laid.

Chiefs fans are just that cranky. I thought my dad was going to hit something after I told him who we drafted this year. :cuss: I'm hoping for the best. Drafting to Cassel's strengths will help. Our offense might do something. But without a real NT and no good ILB's it will be pretty tough to make the playoffs. I'd be surprised if our D was better than Gun's this year.

There are reasons to believe we have a chance to be a whole lot better this year.

1. Romeo & Weis.
2. DJ's head removed from ass.
3. Dorsey's 3rd year & Jackson's 2nd year.
4. Somewhat improved offensive line.
5. A full training camp & pre-season with the same offensive scheme.
6. Cassel has to perform & he knows it.
7. Receivers might figure out how to actually receive.
8. Haley's 2nd year.
9. Improved secondary.
10. Improved special teams (particularly the return game).

There's more, but when you add it all up, it's reason for hope.

It will be nice that we will actually be able to work on football this year during camp instead of getting Herms lazy team into shape. And I'm assuming we won't be firing the OC a week before the season starts.

I agree with this post. I don't think we'll be seeing the playoffs but I do think this season will be a lot easier to watch.

I have guarded against thinking such things. However, I think Cassel can be solid. I think the offensive line is going to be pretty good. I think Charles and Jones gives the Chiefs their best backfield in a few years. I think McCluster will be an impact player. I think that Dorsey can hold down the NT. I think that Arenas will improve our kick return game AND our defense. I think that DJ is an upgrade regardless of his mental mistakes. I think that Studebaker will be a starting OLB. I think Berry will make a huge difference. I think Bowe knows that this is a critical year, and I think he will deliver on his promising talent. And, I think Chambers will have a full offseason to know the system and know the QB. Tyson Jackson and Alex McGee should also be greatly improved.

Those things don't even take into account the fact that we have Weis and Crennel.

Yeah, I think the Chiefs 'can' make the playoffs. I think that eight wins is the threshold for this season to be acceptable, but I can see 10 wins as a possibility.

Playoffs are still a pretty big leap for this team, but it is possible. For many of the reasons stated...quality coaching staff in place, young players getting in to their prime, second year under a new head coach, added some playmakers in the draft, added better players in FA, weak schedule.

Schedule Analysis:
9/13 Chargers W (Charges start slow, Chiefs have thier # in Arrowhead).
9/19 @ Browns W
9/26 49ers L
Bye Week
10/10 @ Colts L
10/17 @ Texans L
10/24 Jaguars L
10/31 Bills W
11/7 @ Raiders L
11/14 @ Broncos W
11/21 Cardinals W
11/28 @ Seahawks W
12/5 Broncos W
12/12 @ Chargers L
12/19 @ Rams W
12/26 Titans L
1/2 Raiders W

9 wins is the best I can see. I really expect 7-9, plus or minus 1 either way. But, 7-9 and being competitive week in and week out will be a nice improvement. Playoffs will have to wait until 2011.

I will be happy if we can at least see visible improvement from the entire team. Playoffs are not a must for me this season. Next year, they really need to get there, but this season, I think 6-8 wins and an extremely competitive team will suffice.
